L322 suspension fault after jacking

Got a puncture, used the Tyre Jack in the boot to lift up the nearside rear.
Got spare out of boot ( is there a technique to this? It's almost impossible to get out).
Anyway, swapped over, a day later dash says;
Suspension fault detected.
Then suspension will lift when system cooled.
Then suspension error max 30mph (car was very low and bouncy )
I'm getting a hiss when going over speedbumps.
As I said, I jacked the nsr. Car at normal ride height, engine off.
I've had a look at the air bags from below, 3 look ok, but the nsf bottom of the airbag looks slightly twisted (at an angle).
Should I just Jack up the front and grease it a bit? With what? I assume silicon based??

I have just had my wheels touched up RRS, I was told that the suspension should be set to off road mode in highest position prior to jacking up the car, as it can cause suspension error problems.

It may be a related problem that you have encountered.

I just had similar although mine is a disco 4.

Put new brakes on, all fine, but the next day suspension error.

Cleared the codes but came straight back on.

Jacked it up again, and "waggled" all the wires to do with the height sensor (I reckon thats what your issue is too).

Anyway, all was good after that.

Remove wheel space cover completely.

Get in boot.

Lift straight up and into vertical position resting on boot.

Roll off on to floor!


Standing outside you'll never lift it out at arms length unless you're a giant!

Am I missing something here? My 2004 L322 had a full size spare wheel and the method was easy, as follows:

- Open upper and lower tailgate and remove boot floor covering.
- Close bottom tailgate.
- Clip special bracket sat in the spare wheel well to the top of the lower tailgate
- Open lower tailgate once more.

The bracket that you clip to the lower tailgate was attached to straps that go underneath the spare wheel and attach to the boot floor. Lowering the tailgate pulled these taut, which lifted up the spare wheel out of the well and all you had to do was slide it out. It was a doddle!

Well I'm certainly missing something, this special bracket/strap of which you speak!

I'm guessing it was something that gets misplaced sometimes as the vehicle changes owners...
