My Car History (beware there’s lots of it)
Discussion
I will start off by saying there’s lots of cars here, and this is no way an exhaustive list, these are only some of what I have owned, starting off from 2003......
Golf VR6, this car was initially purchased in 03 to replace a very bad example of a Corrado. Sold it back to the mate I got it off in 04 and these are the only pics I have of the car when I bought it back in 2012 but sadly it was rotten and broke it for spares.
It was a GTI Engineering tuned car, with a Super plus pac tuning package fitted and it was far stronger than a stock VR6

After that I bought another Golf VR6, slightly later car, in my favourite mk3 Golf colour. That stayed until 2007 but I ruined it by fitting a mk3.5 cab front etc

Around 2006 I decided to run a van to work, the handiness appealed and after spending so much money on the bodywork of the VR6 I became a bit precious over where it was parked etc.
Enter £600 worth of Escort Van. The 1.8D was binned and converted to a TD from an Escort car. It actually made for quite a nippy van.

On a whim in 07 waiting on photos to be developed (remember when we had to do that)from a wedding I’d attended the previous evening I visited the local VW dealer. An hour later I’d stuck a deposit down on this.

Sadly due to a house purchase, I needed to clear my feet and had to sell the R32. Alas I replaced it with this Golf GTI Anniversary TDI
Bought completely stock and another one ruined looking back

I ran that for a while and decided I needed another van, so I bought a Caddy, ran that for a bit and then bought a Transit cheap from my employers at the time. The caddy actually ended up in latter life as a VR6 with the engine from my Silver Golf weirdly enough.

When I had the Golf I’d been looking on an off at E46 M3s and my ideal car popped up locally, so a deal was done and I bought it. Hand on heart this is one of my motoring faux pas, but I can say it’s a box ticked.

The above pic was as purchased, then I found out the wheels were copies, so I went and bought CSL wheels, intraxx suspension, super sprint exhaust and AP Brakes. Never got round to fitting the latter as the car financially crippling me as I couldn’t stop spending on it. Time to get rid. A pic of how it was before returned to standard. If anyone has SV54 HLK this is your car

The M3 was traded in as the arrival of two cocker spaniels was imminent. For the first time ever I let my partner at the time choose the car. She settled on an A3 S line, I hated it, and thankfully it broke down after a week and I rejected it after the dealer having it 3 weeks trying to repair it.
My turn to choose this time and I think I chose wisely. 335d Touring. Pretty basic spec but it was in budget and these were thin on the ground 2nd hand in 09

That stayed a while and I decided to run a van alongside it. My previous employer had promised me one of their old T5 Transporters. Sadly the deal fell through so I had to make do with this one

The 335d was sold to free up money, my son arrived and once things got back to normal there was muttering about A3s again. That wasn’t happening so I went out and bought another better specced 335d tourer.
Trade in at local dealer, saved around 6k from forecourt price but it needed work.

A further house purchase necessitated the van being sold and I ran some shed for getting to work. I do like some snotternomics
£500 V5 Bora. Cat C, bought locally and sold as I wanted another VR6

The £400 89k miles VR6 Highline. Bought this off the original owner and she cried when i took it away. A garage had diagnosed an overheating issue as the head gasket and I took a chance on it being the thermostat. The gamble paid off and it was fixed in less than an hour.

I was offered a 330d touring cheap off a mate so the VR6 made way for that, it never stayed long

The £800 Impreza Turbo. I expected a shed, i wasn’t too disappointed, totally original, original owner but rotten arche. As a fill in car, perfect. I’d always wanted one. Centre diff was toasted. Sadly no pics I can find
All the while the 335d was involved in a minor accident, it was put off to be repaired and some other bits that needed doing attended to. My friend had expressed an interest in it and made me an offer that meant I’d ran the car for 18months for free.
I had always fancied an X5 so purchased a 2006 3.0d in Stirling grey with every option except a sunroof as the panoramic roofs were too troublesome. Sadly no pics of this.
A career change meant staying out of the uk for a month at a time so the X5 and Impreza were sold a Golf TDI mk4 and Golf GTI Anniversary mk3 purchased as cheap replacements
The TDI was fully loaded it had everything and I still kick myself for getting rid of this car

The GTI was bought blind on EBay, was a bit of a shed but solid in the right places. The 8v engine and knackered box was binned and replaced with a VR6 over a weekend

These two were sold on when my E90 M3 arrived home. Only E90 produced in this colour combo, not to everyone’s taste but I loved it

Sadly due to a relationship split I had to sell the E90, but replaced it with another E46 M3 that I took in part ex for the E90. It was rough when I got it, but I think it turned out well

A further house sale/purchase meant the E46 had to go and it was replaced with another R32, I really should have held on to this but it needed a full respray that I couldn’t afford to do

Once I moved house I sold the R32 as my commute was bigger and I fancied a mk6 GTI. The horror stories of timing chain failure put me off and I bought this instead. GTD DSG. This goes down as an all time favourite car.

As my house was in need of renovation I decided I needed another van. Cue another a Transporter. Short trip to Belfast netted me this one
That latterly looked like this before I sold it

Sadly I had ran out of money and wanted to finish my house so the van was sold last year and I ran some snotters

Then my wife decided to lease me a car through her work, not my first choice, but it was my very first brand new car

That lasted a few months until background politics meant it needed to go back and I had to have a BMW, which isn’t a bad thing in my book. Love my M140i

Which brings me up to date. This was purchased after it was traded in to the wife’s work and it’s a car she has always wanted. I really like it too. 1 owner FVWSH, cars like this don’t come up often

Thanks for taking the time to look

Wow that’s quite a few cars! For some reason I recognise your E90 saloon, has there been a thread on it? I think it might be for sale on autotrader now, I’ve been keeping an eye out as I quite fancy one.
Just had a look on Autotrader, yeah it’s at Evans Halshaw Ipswich If I had money free I’d buy that car back in a heartbeat. It’s only lost 6k from when I sold it in 2013
That's a similar car history of my own but nicer and more expansive
As much as they are hated by many id still quite happily have a mk3 golf gti/vr6. I ended up on the cheaper end of the golf platform spectrum with a Leon cupra r and cupra tdi and a bmw touring is on the cards since my daughter popped along.

I remember your red Mk4 Golf Anniversary from around 2007. It was that car that made my mind up on them and I ended up buying one in 2008 which I kept for 6 years!
Funnily enough I have noticed your plate locally over the past couple of years (after I relocated from Glasgow) and it seemed familiar. I could never place it, but this explains it!
