Any suggestions Ladies and gents >?

My temp gauge and heater gauge dont work, I think the temp gauge stopped first.

First thing I did was ground the wire from the temp gauge, needles goes into the red, Temp sender I think, so head of to get one, fit it and the same thing, thinking this to was a duff one fit another, no joy.

When I groung the wire to the fuel sender the gauge goes up to full, there is a chance there is no petrol in the tank.

With the temp gauge I metered the voltage going to the sender was just a couple of votls ,I would have thought that to be 12v , am I wrong.

Just cant under stand why the gauge moves when I ground the wire, the resistance of the sender is changing as the engine heats up, any suggestions, Im baffled

Voltage regulator could be duff - this would mean it's not giving a proper 12v to the gauges.

See here:

It's item 13, hidden away somewhere within the instrument pack. Let me know if you have trouble getting one - I've got 2 late instrument packs in the garage, you're welcome to a stabiliser if you want one.

I took the instument pack out and there is no voltage stabiliser?

Its a 1990 RSP Cooper, is it located else where?

The Haynes is no help.
