Please tell us more about it.

A mate of mine had one back in the late 80s and let me drive it down to Eastbourne (he was racing stock cars at the time and his race car was on someone else's truck).

While it was a great car, the ride quality wasn't a high point for Mercedes.

Even so I really fancied it, but he had already sold it.

Were they all blue/black metallic?

The spec is 2.3 16v in blue black with manual transmission. early 1986 large indicator model.
I have owned for about a year now, it's a good all rounder and feels solid for 32 year old car!
i think the 2.3 was only in blue black or smoke silver.

You are right about the colours davekiwi. When the 2.3-16 became the 2.5-16 then so came two more paint options - Astral Silver and Almandine Red.

Always loved those. When I first started working in the City, my manager (who was all of about 25) had solid gold cufflinks and a black 190e 2.3-16. Wow. That's one way to motivate a newbie to work hard...

Thanks for the comments. i bought it as m3 e30 was a bit of out of my league price wise and lhd. at least i can do drive though and multi storey car parks! i would still love an m3 though!

It most likely was. Smoke Silver on a 2.3-16.

A mate's dad owned one of these in Smoke Silver. I think it was on a C plate before he put a personal plate on it.
He didn't mind if we drove it either, I was about 20, and it was usually with our guns in the boot to go to clay pigeon on Saturday mornings!
Dog-leg box took some getting used to.
