Heres a different one for you all.

As a private pilot I keep up with all the regulations that surrounds general aviation. The latest one is a cracker.

If any private pilot is called upon by the police for help (ie: searching for missing persons in the mountains) and the pilot changes course to help the police they are apparantly in breech of a condition in the air navigation order and could be charged by the CAA which is the governing body for general aviation.

Is it me or has the world went mad...

The world went mad a long time ago..

For the latest example see three gentlemen who apprehended some scrote who had thrown a brick through their window, then they informed the police and drove him there, only to be stopped, and arrested for kidnap. Oh yeah, after f**k knows how much time and money was wasted on court etc.. all charges were dropped

They should have thrown the scrote thru the copshop window. Then he would have been charged with criminal damage, assualting a police officer & resisting arrest!

I would have thought it would be worse flying into a restricted area, which the Police sometimes set up over crime scenes etc.

Don't know why the CAA are getting so touchy, especially if there are no restrictions in the area.

Where does it say that? I don't recall it being in either the Air Navigation Order or the Rules of Fllight Regulations

Isn't this the one where the three blokes locked the vandal in the boot of a car while they waitind for the Fuzz to arrive?

They should have received a community safety award.

The ANO states that any flight in the service of the police must be under a police operators certificate and also any such flight is deemed to be a flight for public transport, even if no passengers are carried.

I didn't make this up you know...
