Do you still buy DVD's and CD's ?

As per the title, just saw an advert for a Trance CD and wondered who is still buying CD's, even my wife has migrated to Spotify. CD's just seem a pain now.

DVD's, the same, cant remember last time I bought one.

Cds not so much because there is little modern music I like - and I already own most of the old stuff - although we have recently gone back to buying a few LPs.

DVDs and blu-ray, yep. Much prefer to own the physical media and the quality is better than streaming (less compression).

I just pre ordered a couple of Xbox games, didnt think about downloading them as they tend to be more expensive and, er, didnt think about it, use Steam for PC stuff by and large.

I dont feel the need to own every film I have seen in case I want to watch it again, its just clutter that fills the house up to my mind, I find the quality of streamed stuff perfectly adequate even on a big screen, not the ultimate but perfectly watchable.

Movies, no chance, but Music Magpie does alright out of me and I've just purcahsed my first new vinyl in years.

CD wise I rip them onto my NAS and stream via Google PLay when out and about. For my vinyl I haven't even got a functioning turntable at the moment so that was a wise purchase

!00% CDs, have quite a collection in the last 20+ years. Admittedly, most of my music has been ripped to MP3 to play on the commute etc. but I always opt for the physical copy of the music as I think digital downloads are a bit crap.

I've bought albums from Amazon whereby it's cheaper to have the CD sent and get a free Autorip download than just to buy it digitally as well!

At least I know if the internet gets switched off or my PC dies, I can still grab a CD and play it. Also I like the aesthetic element, an album cover to look at, artwork to look at etc.

I haven't bought either in years, but did buy a BluRay of Threads by Barry Hines as it's one if my personal faves, I even ordered it with a Lenticular cover , sad I know

Physical discs for me are reserved for my absolute faves.

Not sure about doing a sort of digital prepping for if the internet dies, carrying a car full of CD's round or memory keys with mp3s on, I have decided life is too short having spent ages doing that, ripping it, having it on a NAS etc, just seems to have been superseded and Spotify Family for £15 is great, ok, there is some stuff that isnt on it but most stuff is.

Even up to a couple of years ago I couldn't pass the DVD aisle in Tesco without picking one up. Then upgraded the TVs in my house to Smart ones, stuck in a NAS with all my digital movies, installed Netflix and found the DVD method very old hat - so got rid of the lot.

Haven't bought a CD in a long time.

Never thought about it, until I read this thread, but I'm a mixed bag.

Music, I prefer a physical copy, and buy CD's.

Movies and box sets, never buy DVD's' I use Netflix, and Prime.

Now idea why I'm like that, it's just what I prefer.

I am listening to job related podcasts at the moment, absolutely fantastic, half an hour commute and they are about that, load to get through and picking up so much info.

Nope. I haven’t bought a CD (or any kind of physical media) in years. I have Apple Music, so I haven’t even purchased music digitally for quite a while. It’s great being able to listen to literally almost any song whenever I feel like it without having to do anything other than pick up my phone.

I like owning physical objects. Sometimes the quality isn’t there streaming. Nothing boils my piss more than having a nice AV setup and seeing pixelation.

Massive CD fan still, and still a huge fan of SA-CD. If I have some spare cash left over at the end of the month, I will increase my SA-CD catalogue with Japanese imports.

When you tell friends that you sit down to listen to music as an event, as a pastime, looking at an album cover, it’s almost weird these days as music is always on-the-fly. Disposable even.

I do rip music to mp3 for my phone though.

My gran died recently and we are clearing her house out, there must be a 1000 CD's, some duplicated and many unopened, not got a clue what to do with them.

Most are what old ladies listen to, Ken Dodd, Alfie Boe, Perry Como etc.

They are in every nook and cranny.

DVD/Blu-Ray yes, CD’s no. I like having a physical copy of stuff I want to watch, music I just want the quickest easiest way to have it with me.

I like CD's - I'm stuck in the 80's music taste wise and car wise too

The LC has a 10 disc changer and I have three cartridges - plenty enough music to get me to Le Mans and back without getting bored
