Thin Lizzy - what a class act

caught part of a Thin Lizzy track on the radio this morning. Fired up spotify on the way home and turned up the volume. I had forgotten what a class act Thin Lizzy were - took the long way home!

Yep, they were brilliant.

A little before my time, but I always thought they were pretty good and after hearing "The Boys Are Back In Town" somewhere I bought a couple of their CDs and I have to agree, they were excellent.

Chinatown is my favourite Lizzy album!
Saw them at the Royal Court in Liverpool in the late 80's, absolutely brilliant!

Great band. I can remember trying to make a C45 tape of their best tracks from Live and Dangerous and running out of room as they just had so many. Highly recommended if anyone wants to get into them.

As well as the usual tracks I really liked Emerald, "Has anyone got any Irish in them....would any of the girls like a little more Irish in them!"

Also managed to see them at the MK Bowl and the lightshow and sirens during Jailbreak were just superb...Breakout!

Saw Black Star Riders last year and was told they still play loads of Lizzy songs but they had a new album out so were plugging that and only played one ...which was the highlight of the night. Shame.

I was fortunate enough to see them live many times as a mate-of-a-mate of mine used to manage them - we got management passes to the concerts Mrs. Rooster's first live concert experience was Lizzy back in about '73 or '74; the assault on the ears came as a bit of a shock!

Brilliant band - Live and Dangerous is an absolutely seminal album and IIRC, one (or more) of the tracks was recorded at a concert when I was there.

30 seconds later & have downloaded a couple of their live albums via Spotify,
Takes me back to school in the 70s when a classmate claimed to be Phil Lynotts cousin! Was caught out. Great albums

Only saw them once on the Thunder and Lightning tour in 83 at the Portsmouth Guildhall, fantastic gig. Unfortunately it was the farewell tour and we know the rest.

I did however see Grand Slam the following year at the Pompey Poly, seemed strange seeing Phil in such a small venue. They were good but not a patch on Lizzy, a couple of live albums are out there if you haven’t heard their stuff.
Did meet Phil afterwards and it was clear he wasn’t in the best of shapes, still treasure the autographs.

Didn’t really listen to any of their stuff again until a year ago or so when I read his biography, dug all the vinyl out again and totally agree a really class act.

Despite the reviews I’m a big fan of Life too, always brings that 83 gig back again.

I heard only a couple of weeks ago that a guy who lived a few doors from me and who I knocked about with lots as a kid played guitar with Limehouse Lizzy until recently - Alun Owen.

I was at reading 83 but can't recall much of anything except bits of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Black Sabbath. I also saw Grand Slam at the Royal Standard in Walthamstow.

When Sarah and I married just over a year ago this was our recessional song (my surprise) so I do have a place in my heart for them!

Tiny stage, small cinema size venu, full thin lizzy PA system !

Was epic.

My mistake, was 83 farewell tour with mamas boys supporting.

Black Rose was one of the albums I grew up with, still have it on vinyl and CD somewhere, hiding with a copy of Solo in Soho.

Was too young to have seen them live, by about 5 years, but would loved to have done so

Neat trick since Lynott died in 86.

Did you mean 1983/84 as I saw them at royal court and empire in consecutive years
