Think I'm creating a confrontation, didn't mean to - check it out... I haven’t even got the damn car yet, perhaps I shouldn't have commented but I have read A LOAD of info!

At the end of the day, badge isn't the reason to choose a car but it does add something extra to be driving a Lotus. I hate it when these VXR owners mention torque!!
I co-piloted a VXR at the last VMAX and was hugely impressed. Accelaration at speeds over 80 would leave any Elise (bar 11R and Exige - but you would probably have to change down 2 gears to get 'on cam') for dead.
We hit 143 mph on the straight and guys driving Porsche 993's couldnt believe how fast it went around the bends. I had a few of them reaching for the imaginary brake pedal a couple times.
Another PH'er, Plotless was there in his but didnt run. He has the full stage 2 upgrade on his which means 250 BHP and 250 lb/ft of torque.
You could buy a VXT and have the upgrade done for about £20K and there would not be much around for under £100K to touch it.
I loved it but at the end of the day it's a Vauxhall (as shallow as that may sound) and I dont like the angular looks.

just to quote you from the other thread...
That was the 111R v std VXT220
I went on the 5th gear webchat and asked if they have any plans to run the VXR220 and Exige2 around Anglesey, Tif replied "now thats a good idea!!"... Still waiting
ps -i now have the AMD stage 2, 245bhp. Timed it on a flat straight road, 3rd gear, 30-90.... 6.9 secs

What a lot of people fail to remember is both these cars come off the Same production line at Hethel. They are built by the same people. LOTUS.
Lotus have done a lot of tweaks for other manufacturers in the past, the more memorable ones being the Ford Cortina Mk1 & 2, the Chrysler Sunbeam & the Vauxhall Carlton. The only difference is that these had a lotus badge added to them, the VX220 & the VX220 Turbo don't have a Lotus badge, but they're more of a Lotus than, dare I say it, the Carlton.

That's one thing i'll never forget believe me, it's the reason my car looks like it's got rice krispies growing through the paint
