I'm thinking of changing the shock absorbers on my 400SE. At the moment I have some provided by RT Racing a few years ago and I think they are past it. Has anyone tried any of the other makes that are available? ACT supply Gaz gold and TVR parts supply Spax. Which are the best in your opinion for normal road use and are there any other makes that I'm not aware of? I know this is a very subjective topic but the prices seem to vary widely and the most costly are not always the best.

I've got Spax on my 350i and gaz shocks on my 390. Both work fine although even at lowest setting the gaz units are a little harsher than the Spax. The Spax however soon started getting surface rust on the bodies. Ride wise I prefer the softer Spax units but I'm sure the gaz would be better on a track.

I have AVO's on the 200. Can't really say how they compare to others as I haven't used any other makes. They are adjustable. They don't cost a fortune and you can send them back to AVO and have them rebuilt for not much money. Cheers Steve

I have AVO's on my 400. Can't really say how they effected the ride as I polybushed everything at the same time. It's not a daily driver so I can live with hard suspension. They have been on a few years now, no problems and still look good.
