This may be a question for Plotloss:
I'm looking for a compilation of cracking old school dance tunes, but after raking around on Amazon, it seems that the Bodyrockers are considered old school in most titles.
Can anyone recommend an album with the likes of Voodoo Ray, Gat Decor, Man with the red face, Yekke yekke, etc on it? Basically the proper old stuff

There was one released recently, all the hits and more just cant remember what its called.
The first Danny Rampling mix disc (purple cover with an ohm on the front) had a house disc and a trance disc, that was fairly good.
I could bung a few tracks together, what sort of musical style takes your fancy? Housey housey I take it?
Though you mention Mory Kante so maybe a bit of progressive house is more you bag?
Actually if its the latter, Sasha and Digweed - Northern Exposure is difficult to better.

Crikey - I've got the Rampling one stowed away as well (and a green one). Must have a rummage at some point - unfortunately they're not kept particularly local
I'm off on holiday next week and fancy something a bit bouncy while we prepare to head out every night. I've got a couple of crackers on the ipod already from Danny Howells, Heather, GU Toronto, etc, but want a nice bouncy compilation of the old floor fillers.
You seem to know your stuff - I don't go clubbing as much as I'd like any more, but last time was awesome. Danny Howells at the Soundshaft
My mates spotted me from the balcony, with my hand on my chest in the middle of the dancefloor. Some of the tunes were so good I was just standing there in amazement - unfortunately they thought I was unwell.AC79xxx said:Tony's first Miss Moneypenny's mix CD was excellent. I have some really good compilations from that period, the best one probably being 'House Of Hardbag'.
I may be getting my CDs mixed up (no pun intended) but if you're after a bit of old skool bouncy house IIRC Tony De Vit did a Renaissance CD.
I'll try to dig it out tonight and let you know tomorrow if you want.

Oh and while we are at Dance Music.
That track in the charts at the moment.
Freeloaders - So Much Love (I think)
What the bloody hell is all this name changing shit about?
That song, just like Eric Prydz - Call On Me was penned and recorded by Thomas Bangalter (Daft Punk) and DJ Falco.
Released to the DJ's adored by clubbers everywhere.
Between 18 months and 2 years later its in the charts and consequently banging out of every shit box nova from Sarf End to Newcastle.
Dont they see, once the plebs have got it it automatically becomes shit?
Grrrr

Pretty much like events.
I went to Love Puppy at Onanon on Sunday which was no where near as good as the one at Sway on Easter Sunday or the Xmas event.
Once it goes commercial or becomes too widely known about it loses it's clubbers appeal which is a shame since it was such a good underground event.

Yeah but that's been going on for over a decade... You just have to accept it.
Although I've never really had a problem with club tracks getting over-played - They always seem to work if you're in the right mood.

The version thats been around the clubs is Together - So Much Love To Give, and the Freeloaders have had it re-sung, slightly diferent tune to bring it out.
PS. Friday Night Posse - Dreams out may 30th (something like that anyway)
