Hi Guys,

I know that this question has been asked loads before but I was wondering if anyone could still help me out.

I am 22, 23 in November, and looking to get an Elise to replace my MINI cooper. I have had a look at a few insurance sites for cover but I was wondering if anyone could advise on a company that has come up trumps for them especially if they are a young driver like myself.

Thanks in advance

From the sounds of things...

Tesco's don't mind Elise's but didn't come in competitive for me. I was 26 at the time of the quote.

Elephant were the cheapest non-broker online quote, and others have said the same.

Lots of the companies required a tracker, which is a £400 expense you don't need. Avoid these companies.

Adrian Flux brokers were the most competitive for me.

As with everything, it all depends on your own circumstances. I have tonnes of no-claims bonus and am slightly older than yourself.

Adrian Flux were the best for me too. I live in Central Birmingham and it was a grand for a 27 year old 4 yrs no claims.

Tesco came in with good quotes but as part of their policy it required a tracker. I asked if they could do it without and they said no. If getting Tesco insurance make sure it DOESN'T require a tracker. The woman hadn't a clue until I asked her - she also asked if the car had 5 doors!

I'd called a few and Elephant.co.uk have been the most competitive. I'm 31 and have some speeding points as well...

Hi, i'm a bit old (32) but Admiral were cheap for me this year (£428), tried everyone else listed on the above posts and Admiral beat them all. Admiral are a sister company of Elephant and Bell direct, try all of them would be my advice they do appear to beat one another even though they are the same company.
Good luck

Ps. Get an elise regardless of the cost of the car and cost of insurance- you will not regret it

I'm with Tesso for the second year running, and they've been ace, especially after someone went into the back of me. This year my renewal was £720 on a basic S1, 5000 miles, full NCB, garaged, Andover post code 3 points and a little mishap a couple of months back. £100 quid goes on insuring my NCB and I have to have a tracker. Interestingly putting my girlfriend on the policy knocked it down by £70, if only she got to drive it eh?

Hi I'm 23 and I found tesco the cheapest for my S2 Elise. (see profile pic!) I've got 4yr ncb and as soon as I put my girlfriend on the policy it shot straight down to 1k with ncp. Which by the way is a good job considering I've only just got my baby back from the garage.

If you do go with Tesco buy it on-line because you get a 10% discount, and every little helps. Especially when your young and you tell them u want to insure an Elise.

Like most of the guys have already said Tesco do ask for a tracker to be fitted, this costs around £380 with a £100 annual subscription charge. To be honest if some little chav did nick it I don't think I'd really want it back.

Just Remeber one Golden rule though, your girlfriend / wife might be on the policy but this doesn't mean she can drive it !!

Must agree, put the witch on the insurance as this brings it down, but she must stick to her broom (VTS broom)

I am 22 and found Admiral to be the cheapest, followed by Elephant. Thats for my S1.

I also found adding my girlfriend (who is 21) brough it down by 120squid. Not that she will be getting to drive it, but if it saves a few $$$.......!

On the topic of insurance, any idea what kind of price I would be looking at for a late 20/21 year old driving an S1?

I suspect about 2k? is this about right or is it not really a possibility?

Get onto Elephant's website and have a play on there and you'll see. Too many variables to guess at a number on age alone. Not gonna be cheap though!

Elephant were cheapest for me too. 25, Surrey, 2y NCB, unlimited mileage - £1k. Everybody's advising to put the ball and chain on the insurance, but I found double the saving by putting my old dear on the policy. Definitely worth checking out!

This might be worthwhile for some. I have my family car insured by Bell Direct (Admiral with a hat on) and they will take your first car NCB into account on a second car. The premium is not the cheapest but after a year the second policy gains a full NCB and can be moved elsewhere if you please.
