Just got my 156 GTA back from glass-out respray and I was peering out of the window thinking how nice it looked when I noticed that not one but both of my neighbours' compact SUVs (Nissan Juke and Toyota CHR) had "hidden" rear door handles in the "C" pillars.

Questionable whether the Coupe inference works with the SUV shape, but it did drive it home what an innovative shape the 156 was when it came out 20-odd years ago.

Still one of the most striking cars on the road from the rear three-quarters angle...shame they didn't put a decent engine in it wink

That's the Italians and their innovative ways for you. I could never understand why the design wasn't carried through to the 159 though.

Passenger confusion? I still get the occasional "How do I get in???"
