Doves - Some Cities

I know I am totally behind the times, but I just bought this album, and can't emphasise how awesome it is.... highly recommended.

Not really sure on the album. Bought it a few weeks back. The first 3 or 4 tracks are good, then there's a bit of complete guff until track 10 which is good, then a bit more guff. Not as good as the first album IMO, but it's in the CD changer in the car, which is high honour indeed.

Hmm I dunno, Walk on Fire and The Storm are classics... there are a number of other tracks which are fantastic too. There are some moody pieces, but I think this album ranks near their first, which was phonomenal.

Brilliant album. I just love the staccato strum at the beginning of track 3, "Almost forgot myself".

I am surprised that no one has mentioned the guitar break on the first track, dancing in the street anyone.

As I posted in the other music orientated post, I found The Doves new album very very dull...

I will go and have another good listen to see what Ive missed...

apparently he's stuck in a battle with his record company, but has a new album ready to be released, if only they would play ball..... i think it was due to be called Gun Sluts.

i thought he had started up his own company? 'gun sluts' does ring a bell, but i'd forgotton all about it. i love all of The The. even the cover versions of hank williams... 'swine fever' from 'naked self gives me a reall heavy right foot in the car! TUNE!

was listening to Dogs of Lust from Dusk the other day, when I was out in the car, such a cool and pumping song....

In fact, the first album was Burning Blue Soul, which was a very weird but very brilliant psychedelic album and the second album was Infected (1986) which was perhaps the best one, believe it or not. Although it was very political and might not go down too well with the PH regulars.
