Myself and my GF are heading to Aviemore next month. We have a campsite booked for 2 nights but want to just pull the camper van over nearby on the first night. We're planning on cling Ben Macdui the next morning so if anyone knows somewhere near there that would be a good wild camp in the van the that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

We stopped at Cairn Gorm, in one of the forestry commission carparks earlier this year. It'll cost you £3 a day for the parking ticket but we had no problems, and rangers & police came and went in the evening. However this time of year might be a different story, it was pretty full even in March.
The parking area at Cairn Gorm itself is worth a try as well.

Tomintoul bowls club have a nice little aire type parking too.

That's a great help, thanks. We usually camp but I've just finished converting a Van into our camper so we're planning on using that more often. Not sure how the locals take to vans being parked overnight. We're only planning on parking up because we won't get to Aviemore until around 10pm and we're aiming to set off walking uo Ben Macdui at first light.
