Hi Guys,
My T350 has always built up pressure In the fuel tank after a run. With the hot weather and the car also getting a bit hot and bothered in traffic,it reached about 100 degrees real temp not guage and a warning message came on ( both fans on ok), my wife said she could smell petrol.
On our return home, water down to about( 88 actual not guage) ,the fuel smell was worse, the Tank was making the usual groans but louder than usual.I released the pressure through the fuel filler as usual, but the fuel vapour continued to blast out like the fuel was maybe even boiling?
You could feel the blast of the vapour on your hand!
I shut the filler and left it to cool, was fine afterwards putting back in the garage, just needed a quick vent to liberate the excess pressure before I sheeted the car over ( as usual)
The fuel tank / fuel seems to get excessively hot and there doesn't appear to be any adequate venting?
Any thoughts / ideas appreciated,2005 T 350.
Simon.

Is there a fuel cooler in the return line?

There's a carbon canister that the fuel vents through, check it's no blocked or full of fuel, I think on the T350 it's at the front of the left hand rear wheel arch.

I'd have a look underneath and in the engine bay to see where the fuel lines run too, make sure they've not been put against something hot.

Hi,yes difficult to see that it's the canister, not filled with fuel for 2 years! Only did 59 miles last year !But exacerbated by the hot weather and traffic jam.
It's a problem from new ,4699 miles ago!
But,yes I will try to work out the return fuel pipe run.
Any more thoughts appreciated 🙂

Unless the canister or pipes to it have been blocked from new?
