I would have thought you should really be keeping the same unless you intend to change the fronts for something else too.

Keep to the same if you have them on the fronts.

When you are due for all 4 then consider Toyo Proxes T1R

I have the same dilemma - back tyres need changing but fronts OK.
However fronts will be 31/2yrs old so should I change them anyway?

At 3.5 years old I would change the fronts too!

Micheldever Tyres are cheap.

Am interested in this discussion, as my (early) S2 is in need of tyres all round and it's not proving the easiest exercise in the world to get them !

Local dealer (the delightful Murray Motors !) quoted me c£880 for a replacement set of 4 Potenza's. Clearly, they were wearing Dick Turpin masks at the time. I tried a number of local suppliers with little luck but have eventaully found one who has been able to order a set from Bridgestone - but with an delivery time of between 4-8 weeks. However, they are only £480 and I'm assured that they are the correct Lotus compound (DCK construction code). I have ordered them - however, I was interested in the suggestion that TOYO's would be a reasonable subsitute. I was under the impression that the Potenza's MUST be used, otherwise the handling of the car would be affected.

Is this the case - or is it just spin (groan !). Should I be considering any other alternatives.

Your advices appreciated.
