Hello

Im looking at face lifting my Golf to a GTD, im aware that the bumpers are interchangable and I would have to alter the springs to accompany the larger alloys.

Im trying to find a breaker to get parts from in 2014 silver I assume this is a standard colour from VW?

Once the bumpers and side skirts are sorted Ill be looking at alloys and springs then comes the engine remapp.

If I wanted to put this to stage 2 would that incur a new gear box turbo etc?

Just after advise im a novice at this so I want to do this correctly.

Thanks

Adam

Why do you think the springs would need changing for different wheels?
If you fit larger alloys then the tyres sizes would have to change to keep the same (or similar) diameters so no need for spring changes because of diameter. Lowering springs could be fitted but are not necessarily essential, they are more for aesthetics and possibly improved handling.

By the time you've done the work and taken into account the higher insurance premium for the mods, it probably won't cost much more to buy a GTD.

Yeah you'll want lowering springs if your Golf came with 16s as standard. All models get the lowering springs from the factory with 17in rims and bigger.

just sell it and buy a higher spec Golf.

If you can't afford a higher spec Golf, buy a Leon

I thought the bluemotion already was 15mm lower than the non bluemotion golfs.

Good point, I didn’t read the thread title!

Would need to be the actual proper Bluemotion though for that to be the case

The ‘Bluemotion Technology’ Golfs are just the same as the standard models
