why i wont be voting

despite paying £100 a month council tax and despite resitering to vote at the local elections last year i still dont have a polling card and they say its too late to do anything about it so them and there corrupt piece of shite system. waste of time whole ffing thing

You don't need to have your polling card with you to vote; so long as your on the list and can prove who you are you can vote. Don't give up just because they're a bunch of incompetent cretins.

Did you mean "Don't need to have the card with you". I have voted before without it, they just looked me up on the electoral register.

Having moved house less than a year ago, I rang the council last week to see that I was registered on the electoral roll at my current address. They said I was, and when I asked if I would receive a polling card in the post they said (as was mentioned by others above) I didn't need one, so I am just going to take my passport and a recent utility bill along with me on Thursday.

It is not necessary to take the poll card to the polling station. However some I.D might be useful.

Mine's not turned up either (Wandsworth) - my main concernt is that I'll arrive after work to find someone else has already voted for me, using my missing polling card!

Personally I think they should allow internet voting.

A national register, so no more multiple polling cards. An individual password and log in details-that could be used in all dealings with the government, such as council tax, tax return submission etc.

We had internet voting trialled here in Yeovil at the last (local, I think) elections. MrRotty was able to vote from work, and I just voted in between cooking, cleaning etc....

Love using modern technology for these things - we always used the scan & scarper system at Safeway, until it was removed thanks to scrotes ripping off the system.

Yep and probably as safe as, or safer than postal votes.

True. But I'm afraid I think all "remote" voting systems should never be used. A Polling Booth guarantees anonymity and that the individual is voting absolutely freely and with no possibility of coercion.

Any other system is open to abuse.
