A4 2.0TFSI oil pressure warning
Discussion
I was driving my 2005 A4 2.0TFSI yesterday and as i went around a bend the check oil pressure warning came on. Pretty much straight away the engine started making a loud knocking sound.
I had no choice but to carry on driving for around 4/5 miles. I then pulled over and checked the oil level, which was ok. I started driving again as i'd stopped on a red route and about a 1 mile on the car stopped. It then would not start. There is no sound of the engine turning when trying to start it.
Has anybody else had a similar problem and do you think the engine is dead now?

At worst, yes. Sounds like the car has lost major oil pressure somewhere, and whilst there is oil in the engine, it isn't flowing at a good enough pressure to lubricate the components sufficiently, so likely has caused it to seize up.
This is the worse case scenario however, I would get codes read and analysed first before anything. Don't go to Audi, it will be too expensive with them either way, use a good Audi specialist. For all we know, the engine is refusing to start for safety due to a code, and the car may be ok.

Thanks for the replies. Waiting for it to be collected and dropped to garage now.
Not the end of the world if thats it for the engine. I have had it form new and its done 158k miles pretty faultless miles. Still sad though as i do love it.
I always wanted to do some stuff to it, guess this a opportunity to do so.

Codes read ? Engine will now be toast. This is the worse case scenario however, I would get codes read and analysed first before anything. Not sure with 2.0tfsi but the 1.8t has an issue where the oil pick up pipe in sump gets blocked with sludge. Had this happen to me but i stopped engine straight away. Sounds like your engine is toast.
Yep, common on the EA113 TFSI as well. Hasn't happened to me at 125K miles though, thanks to 3-5K oil changes. Go figure!Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
