355 Crash damaged worth it or not ?
Discussion
Having been thinking only thinking about a 355 for a little while now I have been thinking of selling the 911's but have probably come to the conclusion that I what to keep the 993 so it got me thinking ......
What if I buy a crash damaged 355 and have it repaired is it worth it because I probably could then keep the 993 as well or am I mad having found a couple do you guys have any views ?
Found the following....

Both cars appear to be Cat D. i.e retail cost of repairs does not exceed retail value of repaired vehicle.
FWIW, if you were going to keep it for a long time, then yes, go for it. If you want to make a fast buck, don`t bother.
Incidently, I would search the Ferrari forums to try to contact the original owner. Some (not implying either of these) salvage dealers have been known to "pre jig" a car to make it look better than it really is.
If you want a trustworthy dealer, try these people...

At least two PHers have bought cars from them.
Hope this is of some use

Kind of what I thought I was more interested in the yellow one 15K is not the buy price its where the auction is now.
I had thought that very roughly if the yellow one went for say 20 - 25k and the you spend another 5k ish then 25 -30k would make a very usable toy + say 27 / 28 for 993 and then you are talking both for about 50- 60k as opposed to 55ish for a rhd 355 alone not crashed !!!
Now I may be way wrong on prices but its just a thought I would probably keep they 355 ad the 993 for a few years as they are my ultimate two cars

Personally, I'm dont think it would be worth it. If its your industry and you're doing it yourself, then maybe, but if you're doing with the services of third parties, I would give it a miss. I also think that you'll know in the back of your mind that its been pranged and it'll never feel right.
Also, looking at those prices, I dont think you'll be much better off financially. The Yellow LHD 355 is £15k and still has a week left on the auction.
What about a Stolen Recovered one? Or buying privately and doing a good deal. RHD 355's are about for low-mid £40k's now.

Sorry, but you're looking at nigh on £10k to sort that yellow one - brings it up to about £30k (I'm guessing it might go for £20k) or about £2k less than the cheapest lhd 355 I've seen in the last year for sale. So not worth it IMHO. The RHD car is a crazy price.
£40k seems the going rate for the cheapest RHD 355 at the moment BTW.
Thanks for the feedback guys, it wasn't really that I couldn't aford both its just I can't really justify it in my own mind if that makes any sense ?
I think that if the yellow one is going to end up at about 30 / 35 then its not for me as someone else posted you would always know it had been not quite right which may spoil the experience. Added to that I would rather spend another 10 /15 and enjoy a RHD and probably in red.
So its back to the drawing board
But thanks for the advice
