Morzine

Just back from 4 brilliant days of road cycling in and around Morzine. We used these guys who I cannot recommend highly enough (https://velovation.co.uk).

Routes were all brilliant and challenging, accommodation and food top notch and the guys provided full support across all 4 days.

My first time cycling in the Alps (skied there plenty of times) and I would definitely recommend.

agree - some fantastic stuff there : assume you did joux plane, and up to avoriaz via goat village (i forget the actual name!)

Oh how i miss riding in the alps!

Yes did the Joux Plane from both sides - both tough but the side from Samoens noticeably harder. Climb through the goat village is a good one. We also went to Annecy one day (over the Col de Romme and Col de Columbiere - TDF stage 10) which was a brilliant day.
Last day was over the Col de Grand Tailet (never heard of it previously but won't f***ing forget it in a hurry) and the Col de Corbier which was a lovely 6km 5% climb to end the trip.

I did this exact ride yesterday! The views from the top are as good as it gets.

Made me feel better seeing some of the pros struggling up the Romme/Columbiere yesterday!!!

I did the Joux Planes from Samoens in 2016 a month before the TdeF.

Started the climb in sun and 30oC, summited in 16oC and heavy rain. Great climb though!

How about sat on the long top open wire lift to the Swiss DH when a thunderstorm comes in and they speed it up to max speed to get you to the end

Yeah, it's all fun and games when the weather takes a turn for the biblical and you're stuck *miles* off the ground in a glorified coat hanger swinging back and forth.
