South Hants S Meet - 01.05.2005
Discussion
A big thank you to DarkMatter for planning yesterday's South Hants mini S meet.
A mix of V6 and V8 rumbling through a well planned route through the New Forest. Superb
8 of us in all - me, DarkMatter, Claire & Shnozz, tvrgaas, PVN, jon_S3, AliB and nawarne. A good turn out at fairly short notice.
Great to see Claire's S 'making good progress' on the M27 on the way back
No ill effects after the 8 month lay up and new head gaskets there then !!
Alan and Mike joined up for a while in the Tuscan. Sounds great even over the drone of my V6
Was good to put faces to PH logins and already looking forward the next one

pleased to see that our engine rebuild a few weeks ago stood up to the Claire xxx mph test that she decided to embark on as we went home
she behaved faultlessly - the S that is, not Claire
Not bad since it was her first real run out since August bank holiday 2004.
Lovely to meet you all and see some old faces. Hope to see you all again soon
(and pleased I havent been shunned by the TVR crowd
Nice one lads, it looked like you had a cracking weekend. I drove down to Southampton on my way to the I.O.W. and kept my eyes open hoping for a glimpse of another S. Anyway it was nice to get to have a blast with my bruv in law on the island and I hope to see some of you soon, hopefully at Silverstone in August.
cheers.

Some quality routes on the island - seem to remember the Needles to St Catherines coast road as a good 'un
Me and the missus were thinking about having a long weekend on the island this summer. Was the S a bit tight on ground clearance getting on and off the ferry ?
Hi Soton, yeah the road you are refering to is called the Military Road, the climb out at the western end is new, nice and smooth and winding, well worth a blast. Shame about the rest of the roads, my exhaust clamps bottomed out loads of times, but bruv in law has shown me how to raise them. The Red Funnel ferry is fine, I took the ramps at an angle and had no problem but let the boarding staff know you have low clearance and ask to go on the lower deck. I havent used the Pompey or Fishbourne ferries so cant comment. Give Clivef a shout, he can give you a good amount of info. Give us a call on here when you are thinking of going over and I will make the effort as well. bye
