Reverie / Pipercross / ITG?
Discussion
Hmmm. I'm still running mine with the stock air filter ATM - I've always been sceptical of BHP claims for things like this, as you would have thought that if an extra 8bhp could be gained, it would have been fitted as stock by the factory.
However, it will be interesting to see if Lotus do approve the Pipercross. I'm still holding on in the vain hope that the SC kit will come out for the 111r, so I don't want to waste money on an induction kit that would then have to be taken off anyway. If the 'charger is definitely off the cards, though, I'm going to get the Pipercross I think.

"but the ITG one has been Dynoed"
doesnt mean anything really ...you can make it read what you like.
all I can say is, on my own car when it was lightly modified I got about 3-4bhp per bolt on: ITG, Sports cat, and sports exhaust....had numerous dyno runs.
If you do a search on SELOC then theres quite a few spreadsheets from rolling road shootout days, with 20 cars or so on each sheet in various specs and what they produced as a comparison that blow out of the water nearly every manufacturers claim.....

The ITG kit I beleive is he best. It does give a noticable increase in power and it has been tested on the same car as std then with the kit on on the same day. A numbe rof runs were done in each format and the average increase was 8-11bhp. A peak increase of 14bhp was seen. If you see the convoluted way the toyota airbox works you can well beleive it.
I have one fitted to mine and the change in persona of the engine note is well worth even before you think about the slight extra urge it has.

I got my ITG fitted a month ago. Actually at the same time as my zorst and sports cat so in truth maybe I'm not best placed to talk about the effects of the ITG in isolation but I found the following:
Insurance: Several insurers would not insure me at all with an induction kit (e.g. Tesco). Other hardly cared (e.g. Adrian Flux - good on 'em).
BHP gains: Maybe a small amount but even a peak gain of 8BHP is about 5% - nice to have but are you really going to notice it?
Free Reving: A big benifit is the more free reving engine - I love this, makes for a much more sporty feel i.e. feels like F1 car when 'dibbing' the gas. Brooom brommmm!
Exhaust Note: My understanding here is that as the engine can breath much more freely the whole tone of the air passing through the engine is lowered. Mine now sounds like a angry Pantha purring even at idol (admitadly this is also due to zorts and sports cat).
Conclusion: I think it's really important to look at the whole induction - zorst thing together. Changing zorst without improving induction will only give limited effects - to unleash the beast (and belive me it's there ready and waiting) go for all three components (as long as you are happy about the increased volume
.
Lotus don't put these things on as standard as some would consider them a bit extreame for a mass produced car. When you think about it I guess that's why they made the Exige...
