I have seen this sort of stuff before in Scotland with claims that the country ran for one day on renewable energy, the only problem is that it is not really true.
They always seem to forget that most heating and a lot of cooking is done using gas and wind turbines etc do not produce gas.

The catch? 17 square miles of "green space" (0.2% of Wales) covered with solar to power public buildings in the square mile. How much subsidy is that attracting to make it viable?

Much better to cover 2% of Wales...

But the greenies would probably say that losing 17,000 acres of green space is a fair price to pay - or use it as grounds to campaign for a cut in energy consumption.

The catch is that its not the whole of London, but the City of London, which is a far more achievable target.
