Hoping someone can help, is it possible that dealer can programme the folding wing mirrors on my 2016 Sharan (I know.... 5 kids so not much choice)... so they fold when car locked?

Annoying to remember to twist dial each time I leave car......

I feel your pain, it's a hardship we could all do without.

I just forget, Renault (I know) did it all by itself.... can't believe VW can't do similar.... what's the point of having otherwise??

No idea about the sharan, but on the mk5/6 golf it was possible to retro fit specific door modules to enable the automatic folding.

Implies it may be necessary to hold the lock button to make them fold...

All VAG cars I have owned or driven, if they have folding mirrors on the switch gear, a long press of the lock key will fold the mirrors in.

Also, on some variants the same long press will close any open windows/sunroof. The converse, when unlocking, a long press will open either one window or all windows, setting dependant.

The door mirrors (wing mirrors hehe...had them on my Morris MInor) are programmable via the screen to either fold up when the door locks or manually on the turny knob on my 2015 Golf. Would have thought Sharan similar?

Can't even remember if you could actually see anything in them! Don't know why it took so long to move the mirrors from the wings to the doors?

Sadly not the case for many VAG cars.

Yes, and there are often 'legacy' products where older electronics are used in older models and don't allow silly things.

MK1 R8s never had DAB radio (even as an option) for example, because they used the wiring loom out of a 15 year old A3.

The sharan is still based on the pq35 (golf mk5/6) platform. My old mk6 golf the mirrors folded but it would not fold unless I twisted the switch.

A long press of the lock would shut the windows but not do the mirrors.

Im not sure why you couldn’t set it to automatically fold on the mk6 as I’m sure they did on the mk2 Leon!

Might it be possible to get this function enabled using VCDS? It might be worth looking on the Ross-Tech forums http://forums.ross-tech.com/forum.php

It might be on the list of features you can enable via Carista.

My GTI has folding mirrors. Would love them to fold via the key. Don’t think it’s possible on the PQ35 platform cars though. Although I’ve seen a few Youtube videos where it has been done somehow.
Maybe it requires some custom coding of the actual door controllers?

If it can't be coded, and I know some models can't, then you could do it with some kind of add-on module that takes it's power from the door locking and then activates the fold circuit.

Many years back I had a BMW 323 with (non remote) key operated central locking that would close the electric windows if the key was held in the lock position, but not automatically when locking.

I had a Clifford alarm fitted which had an add-on module that would close the windows as the alarm/central locking was activated, it wouldn't be difficult to wire in a similar setup to fold the mirrors.

I used Hazzydayz for our Audi A1. They clearly folded, however dealer suggested they could not fold on lock up of the car, as they were the same as the TT models. Hazzydayz coded it in and now folds on lock up. OP you spoken with them?

I'll look in to that... thanks.
