I saw a restaurant on a TV chef programme which had a big grill in the middle and you could either sit in booths round the side or literally on the edge overlooking the chefs. Specialities were steaks and burgers.

I've done a search but can't find anything I recognise - does my loose description ring any bells?

That isn’t what a chef’s table is.

A chefs table is a table in the kitchen.

Are you talking about teppanyaki restaurants?

That seems to be the most common restaurant of this sort - along with Korean BBQ places. There are a few steak/grill restaurants, however, with BBQs in the table. They always struck me as a strange concept, other than the novelty of it.

No, not teppanyaki - definitely a British version of a real BBQ restaurant (not Bodeans)

In Soho I think Zelman Meats would give you what you want (you can watch the cooking or sit at regular tables). I highly recommend the ‘Dirty’ sirloin!

Could be - I don't think it's Temper as looking at the menu there isn't the selection of steak I expected.
