Have a look at Twickets.

Quite a few available at face value plus a small fee.

Secure new tickets asap then cancel via Gogo.
They are a st show of a company.

They did this to my daughter for a Lady Gaga concert in the South of France and at very short notice too, it was a hell of a job to get any money back (their offer was for a different venue and different date which was out of the question) on cancellation and in the end had to do a chargeback through Visa to get the money returned.

In the shady world of secondary ticket resellers, Viagogo has been cited as the worst of them all by many in the music industry.

So whilst not a scam, this is sadly hardly surprising that they're mucking you around. They're based in Switzerland I believe, and don't seem to think any consumer protection laws apply to them

yes

Radio 4 have been featuring them on You and Yours for quite some time now.

They sound like a revolting company and operate with zero regard for any laws or regulations. All being well, they'll go under soon and/or be banned from operating in the UK.

Sounds like the seller was chancing it - either:

a) they never had the tickets and chanced picking them up cheaply and couldn't, or,

b) had the cheap ones all along but sold them as the better ones, at a higher price, in the hope that you (or others) would at this late time, go and see the concert anyway and they get the higher price still.

What is it with the ticketing industry? I recently had a falling out with Ticketline over a gig that was cancelled in advance by the promoter; not postponed, completely cancelled; and as far as I can tell Ticketline were sole agent for the event and certainly the one that the promoter directed everyone to to buy tickets, until it was cancelled and they took it off sale. So they absolutely knew it was cancelled by the promoter, no further checking required. So should have been a straightforward refund from them, but I had to ask them three times and after two weeks threaten legal action to get some movement. And still they took the best part of a week for the refund to appear on my account. Very odd, in these days of near-instant Faster Payment, and the fact that Amazon and John Lewis manage to refund transactions inside 24 hours, so why can't ticket agents?

And they kept all the booking fees, which may have been in line with their T&Cs, but still leaves a bitter taste and absolutely ensures no repeat business, ever.

Whole industry needs a huge kicking. So few of the companies in it seem to understand what decent customer service is.

I really recommend Twickets.

Have bought a lots of tickets via the service - the only time I was let down I got a refund more or less straightaway with no fuss.

A couple of times we have bagged top end VIP tickets for less than face value.

Viagogo don't really represent the "ticketing industry" though in the same way that Ticketline do.

But I agree. When I had tickets for the Foo Fighters but Dave Grohl broke his leg, the ticket company only refunded me the face value of the tickets, leaving me about £18 out of pocket for "postage and booking fees" etc. For tickets which I had already paid insurance on in case of such matters. And the industry is somewhat self-regulating so they've all just decided that its "fair" to do that to people.

Looks like you might have been lucky - https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/local-news/roll... .

Ed Sheeran's current tour is the first major one to implement measures to stop ticket touting via these sites. All ticket holders need ID and they've made arrangements with all resale sites not to handle them.
Well, all except Viagogo who refused to cooperate.
There's even a process to allow ticket holders to resell at face value if they can't attend.

The management company have been identifying tickets sold on Viagogo and voiding them when the ticket holders turn up to the gigs. They then sell the ticket holder the exact same ticket, but at face value.
However, because the original ticket has been voided, the customer can get a refund from Viagogo (in theory, at least).

That's interesting! Hope it becomes more widespread.

Secondary ticket site such as these need to be shown the back door by the punters. A few tickets are probably genuine no longer needed but when I go looking for a concert or sporting event from the official outlet a day late from official release, and find many for sale on viagogo etc. someone is taking the piss trying to be big business person making money. And the site is creaming of the lot of them. A pox on them all.

It needs the punters to stop using them to buy and Mr Big to realise that if he was a really smart business man then he would be rich but not through conning people on the internet try to flog tickets at inflated prices.

If you care about live music don't buy tickets from these scum secondary selling sites. Issue raised in Parliament, hopefully the practice of selling on for profit will be made illegal. Private seller or not.

The artists haven't signed with the sites, the venues are owned by Ticketmaster. The Ticketmaster sites are slow because so many fans are trying to buy the few remaining tickets not skimmed by bots. Often secondary selling sites that Ticketmaster has an interest in will be selling tickets quicker than an ordinary fan can conceivably get on the main site and purchase a face value ticket. You will still be able to buy second hand tickets, simply with no profit to the legitimate seller though.

Ticketmaster does not exactly come up smelling of roses either. Unfortunately they seem to have got their claws in deep.
