Current cost of living in Doha, Qatar

I have been offered a position in Doha and would appreciate advice on the cost of living in comparison to London please. Has the embargo increased costs further?

It's exactly 17.92% cheaper than living in London.

Accommodation is expensive - most employers give a housing allowance. Food is expensive but nothing too horrendous. Taxis are cheap, fuel is much cheaper than the UK but increasing.

Bit late to reply but in case its still helpful;

Cost of living is reasonable to us and we but then we don't have expensive taste. Odd things are expensive such as Peanut Butter, Peppers and decent meat. Alcohol and Pork can be had and quite reasonably priced too imho. Eating out is cheap though, you'll put weight on!

As another poster pointed out accommodation is eye wateringly expensive but often supplied by the employer. You don't however generally pay utilities so your only bills outgoings are fuel, food and entertainment

It is a nice place to live though, we are happy here, sure its a bit of a nanny state but isnt every country in some way or another. Our initial plan was to essentially smash and grab, stay a couple of years, save everything we could then retun to UK/Ireland but more and more we are realizing that actually our lives are better here.
