2003 Range Rover Vogue Auto - doin my t!2s in!!!!
Discussion
Hi All.
Wondering if anyone can shed any light on what has been happening to my big pain in the ass (i love her really)
had breaks seize on (all four) couple of weeks ago stuck it in to a garage i use all the time, replaced all for calipers, discs and pads. Ran great all the way to Largs and back the other day (Sunday), jumped in it today got no more than two miles from the house and the whole thing locked up again!
Tried to let it cool down for about an hour no joy, managed to get it to about a mile from the house then gave up, did not want to wrck new discs and pads.
Lights on dash and warnings: HDC Inactive & Air Suspension Inactive
So long story short wtf is happening to my big beasty????
Could the HDC system be constantly applying the brakes??

If all four calipers are locking up then logic would suggest it has to be something in common with all four, in which case, as mentioned above, it would be master cylinder out to the ABS module and pump.
ABS is what controls individual braking of each wheel therefore traction control and HDC will be effected. I would be checking the ABS module as there have been cases of damp getting into the main connector and causing havoc with the system.
HDC inactive is also a common error to pop up due to low battery voltage so worth checking the battery and charging system. I use the error message as a signal to charge the battery up if I forget as my RR doesn't get a huge amount of use.
My money is on an ABS issue though.
I can't believe a garage would change all 4 calipers with that complaint unless they were completely incompetent or after unloading your wallet! It would be extremely rare for all four calipers to be faulty at once.
