Here we go again,

I received a brown envelope this morning from the CSA.

It states that my ex has changed her claim and that I need to be 're-investigated' and that having contacted my new employer and discovered my salary, they have decided to up the amount due, back date it 8 months and take it directly out of my monthly. They haven't actually based the figure on any figures from me.

I am a bit strapped.

Got any thoughts on renting my car out? (or freeing up some of the houses 'potential' and buying one to 't[h]rash'?) Where do I stand re insurance?

I suppose I could do all this myself, but would appreciate your comment ()

Chairs.

Get a damn good lawyer and let them take a look and try and help you out.

You could nip 'round onto Whiteladies and accidentally fall into a hole in the pavement, then ring up AmulanceChasers Direct or some such...

No, wait, the settlement would probably end up coming out of my Council Tax! Try turning a few tricks instead!

Talking of remortgage, I've just had an email from Trevor Willard Racing advocating Vigin One mortgages.
He's just remortgaged to free up some cash and has apparently got a good deal.

Amazing the places you get financial advice from now!

How's the poor boy going keep it up with all this pressure?

...maybe he likes to think of us all watching...

Everything is just soooo grindingly slow. The House is actually up for sale..
I need to find a deposit for the new place down here as I've been given notice (he's sold it!!). The forms are at the CSA - I've been on the phone twice today, no joy.
Unfortunately Lawyers cost money!!

Sorry to go on. Just bad timing, really. Once the house is sold... My mortgage people are getting back to me later today..

Any road - has any one actually hired their car out, maybe not for a thrashing but weddings, milk rounds etc?

I think the CSA will get you for 20% of your net wage.

IMO and from speaking to a guy last week.

Not really that fair, as the child will only see his portion of the income support cheque.. where does the rest go??

As I've said before, If I wanted to give my son that amount of money, I'd be investing it. (But they won't take that into account on the 'means' test).

Sorry this isnt helping, laughing at other peopls missery

It must be a big thorn in your side with this all, well good luck and hiring out you car for weddings is a good idea, just dont let the ex know about it or she want the car.

Have a chat with my mate bernard at weddingsupercars.com (email info@weddingsupercars.com) - I'm sure he'd consider putting you on the books. However, I'm not sure it's a regular income, more a way of earning the occasional bit of pocket money.

You need 'hire or reward' insurance if you give anyone a lift for money etc., best ask your broker, but insurance for a day or so is normally cheap. If someone is hiring the car off you on a self-drive basis, then they would have to arrange insurance for themselves. I once got cover on a Caterham for a weekend, when I borrowed a car from the factory.

Hope this helps.

But would you really want to turn your car into a 'lady of the night' and allow strangers to get inside her for money? Just the thought of anyone other than me (ok, and my wife) driving my baby makes me shudder.

Still, I guess "needs must when the devil vomits on your eiderdown", as Blackadder once said.

Bad luck mate.

weddingsupercars is really just a glorified taxi service, so you don't need to let them drive the car - you chauffeur them

so no damage to the car by idiots etc, unless the owner is an idiot of course

Hmm, think it would only really work if I ferried refugees.. as legally I can only get one passenger in..

Though carting various brides-to-be around might be interesting...
