Looking at getting a Defender for a first car
Discussion
Hello all! I've just turned 16 and I'm looking at buying a Defender to work on and take off-roading before I pass my test and finally get driving on the road
I'm looking for suggestions on which Defender to get. My budget is around £15000 (Including insurance, god knows how high that'll be).
Also, what are all your experiences on insurance quotes? Me and my father are looking at putting it through company, which might take some money off.
I'm aware that defenders do need maintaining, and that is why I wish to get it after my GCSEs, it'll be something like a summer project to clean it, replace parts and such.
Thanks.

Hi. I ran a 1994 Defender 300TDI as my first car back in 2007
It is fun to drive and I felt safe being a new driver but at the time for me being a student with part time work it wasn't cheap to run
We found it in 2007 with 17.000 miles on the clock. I loved it and We still have it along with my dads 61 Series 2..
Insurance: I was a named driver on my parents insurance as with just me as the named driver it was ridiculously expensive.. Look at insurance with the NFU..
