111S or 111R???
Discussion
I currently have a Cerbera and I am looking to defect to the Elise party V soon.
I use my TVR on a daily basis and I am worried about the impracticality side of Elise ownership, I mean that at least the TVR has a decent boot and rear seats of sort.
I have booked a meeting with Stephen at Wilsons on Saturday afternoon to have a chat about the 111S and the 111R, but I do not have a clue what sort of questions to ask!
So 111S or 111R??????
Questions?

have tried both, went for R. I hired a 111S for a weekend just to see if the elise was an everyday car, and to see if i could live with it. The answer to both was a definite YES PLEASE. The R is just amazing, you do have to wring it a little to get that extra urge, but it is not exactly slow on the 1st cam!!! I only find myself playing in the 'dark side' when really commited, its not practical to exploit the other cam all the time, as 2nd takes you to the other side of 60mph, and 3rd WELL into the other side of the law!!! I also found the 6 speed box to be very positive in its selection, and nicely weighted.
I found the setup on the R to be a little more forgiving(softer?), and the added security of ABS is good, although I dont like the feeling of an extended braking zone when the ABS cuts in, you just have to remember that you can still steer.
I suppose the Toyota lump should be more reliable than the Rover in the long run.
they are both amazing cars, you wont be disappointed by either.

Drive them both but 111R is the faster car and has better build quality than the 111S.
It also has the Toyota engine as opposed to the K Series so should be a lot more reliable and is more powerfull as well.
I've never found the Elise particularly impractical although the boot is a lot smaller that in a TVR but you can still fit in a fair amount of stuff if your resourceful

Coming from a TVR I think you should go for the R, but if you want an S I have one for sale
I also have a Ardent Red 111r & it is superb, wicked power to be had at the top of the Rev range (Over 6000 rpm) The S has power all the way through the range but I just had to have the R, as soon as I drove the R I made my mind up, I'm sure your going to get plenty of advice from these guy's

It's got to be the 111R unless you really don't like the high 6K+ power band, then the 111S makes some sense I guess... If cash is an issue then the S is cheaper but not by much when you're spending a shed load of cash anyway! I was initially looking at the S but after reading reviews and peoples comments about the R, there was only really once choice to make... I'm sure the S is a fantastic car but unless other members have some decent reasons, then the R wins every time... I havn't actually driven either so am not in a great position to comment but have read loads of info... I should take delivery of my R in the next few weeks - cannot wait as I drove a Sport 135 a few years back and loved it - it's just so involving...
