Im sorry to say, being an old fan of the programme, that the new format is sh1t
The way its filmed is like a men and motors meets max power, lets get 30 some people in to give their "expert" opinion, type show.
Im seriously disappointed!

What do you think?
Did you see it?

I actually thought it was quite good, cars are fun and they had fun with them and they always done that 'get a load of punters to choose a car' thing, bit plebby I agree though. Thought next week looked quite good too, though having glugged best part of bottle port this evening cant actually remember what it said it would be about.

Gone to get me Max Power mag and basball cap now

Defintley a turn for the worse, a big thumbs down imho, the new formats even worse than the last (how the fook did they manage that!).

and whats this?? Jason Plato saying that he prefered the Mini Cooper S to the Lotus Elise?? hope they scrpted him to say that!

Bring back deals on wheels - the old style!

The previous series of Driven was giving TG a good run for its money, but if last nights example is all they can come up with for a series opener, they're in big trouble.
The car-sumo made Robot Wars look entertaining. The Mini vs. ST170 test seemed to center on which had the most effective handbrake (!?), and lets not mention the Austin Princess it's-a-classic campaign.
I'm all in favour of watching Plato (or whoever) demonstrate some talent by holding a car in a graceful drift with a hint of opposite, but J-turns are different - once you've seen one, you've seen 'em all. VBH was just as bad on TG (last series), trying to 'drift' an Alfa 156 GTA by briefly hauling on the handbrake mid-corner - have you never heard of lift-off oversteer?

What they need is:

Amanda Stretton talking classic racing cars.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

(I saw her today at Rockingham- first time "in the flesh", so to speak. Lovely. I still haven't got over it...)

All I'm getting here is NASCAR and monster truck. The only BBC channel here shows "changing rooms" from 7am-4pm followed by a few hours of "house Invaders" and "Ground Force". I guess the BBC can sell sand to the Egyptians. Why the fudge would anyone want to see 8 or so hours of our cackiest shows?

I'd take a shit car show any day of the week.

Hmm.. seems that Drivel have gone in for the numpty brigade... my favourite quote was the muppet who said...

"The Ford's (Focus RS) is a better car, but it's a Ford, so I'm going to go for the mini"

I cant beleive it i am saddend by what has become!
How could you even compare the outwright FUN you have in a lotus Elise to that shoppingTrip Sport.
Ok maybe im being a bit harsh on the Mini but the Lotus Elise.
I prefered it when it was a few presenters telling me about one car from their point of view.
Is Topgear on again?
