Guilietta - 1.8TBI or 1.4MA
Discussion
I'm in the market for a weekday runaround, and am thinking of heading back to the Alfa fold (previous GTV 3.0, 147 GTA etc). It's mainly going to be a daily hack - and a lot of it in a city.
My default is always to go for the highest performance model, but the 170 bhp seems to get decent reviews. Running costs and insurance dont really concern me too much, it's more whether the 1.4 will feel sporty/fun enough to drive - and feel like it's got some torque. The Sportiva model looks quite good too - like the TBi but without the twin exhaust.
Has anyone driven both / able to offer any advice?
Thanks

Don't know about the TBI but going from a GTV v6 to a MA170 I do really notice the lack of low down torque.
Unlike the V6 I have to change down alot more often and use D mode for a few slow hilly areas.
Power wise the MA is great for the UK roads, it really goes once in D mode and over 2000rpms. Can hustle it down a country lane as I would the gtv.
Going back I'd get the TBI as had some trouble with the multiair. The TBI seems more straightforward.
If you get the MA I think Alfa now recommend 9000 mile oil changes ( easy to diy)
