Integra type R
Discussion
Had one for around a month and it is tops ,sold my V8S for one and i have not regretted it for one minute.
Owned a lot of machinery over the last few years but that is right up their with best.
If you do get one look at getting a vtec controller (£350) means you can get the vtec to come in when you like !!!!, BIG FUN and easy to shock much more expensive machinery.
The only downside is getting used to havin very little in the way of luxuries (after your masser)
GET IT YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT

I wasn't under the impression that Vtec was some sort of super boost you could kick in at anytime to make the car go faster?!!
What is the point of being able to use the higher overlap cam if the engine speed is below the normal Vtec change point? If anything it will kill any torque at lower engine speeds and make the engine run less smoothly.
I think it would be best to leave the cam change up point as the guys at Honda intended.
These cars are awesome, in my opinion far far superior to the newer civic type-R with i-vtec.
I owned one for 6 months and covered 10,000 miles in it. Apart from the road noise you just cannot fault it.
In fact I nearly brought another one recently, it is a minter. 11,000 miles and dry use only. If you want me to put you in touch with the guy mail me.

Absolutely correct. The change point is set at what it is from the factory for a reason
Its a common misconception that you can make them faster by getting a VTEC controller but unless you have aftermarket cams theyre a total waste of time and cost you power

You probably wont get a lot out of an ITR by changing the cam change point, but they are useful to prevent high cam on the motorway when cruising, or when being noise tested at a track.
Preludes benefit greatly from the changeover point being lowered.

Well, I've just got one and it will be used as a daily driver. It is way to early to give a full review but I can tell so far that it doesn't like the slow start/stop/crawling driving like my previous car did (Civic). Not something that I can't get used to. As long as you're fit enough to climb out of the Recaros' everyday I'd say it's not a problem as an everyday car.

Hmmm.. not sure about it being any benefit on the motorway in the CTR since the Vtec point in 6th equates to 120mph! What sort of speed do you like to cruise around at?!!
