After a serious amount of time owning a MK1 LCR which has looked after me for 70,000 miles and 8 years, been a commuter for five jobs and helped me move into my own place it was finally time to upgrade, I did think about saving and putting the money towards paying off the mortgage faster but I decided life is too short to not enjoy it and who knows how much longer we will be able to have big displacement V8's.

I actually spent a long time searching for the right car, fortunately I have a buddy who is every bit as into cars as I am and never lost the enthusiasm to keep on trekking around the country with me to look at them.

The things I wanted were EDC, DCT, HK audio and the competition pack, everything else was a bonus.

The car has quite a high spec and some tasty extras which are:

Eventuri CF intake

Primary cats removed

Remap

GTS DCT software

The rod bearings have been done

Also the man maths worked out in such a way that the Leon also stayed which I am happy with as I love that little car.

So far I am just driving it and enjoying it, I don't think I will ever tire of that induction noise or the rev matching on downshifts. In the future I think I will be adding some cosmetic bits.

Looks lovely in mineral white, was this per chance Evolves old demo car they had for sale recently?

If so there are definitely some ‘choice’ mods and would love to hear a vid of how the Eventuri sounds?

Good work on fending off the sensible vibes of paying off the mortgage quicker!

You are correct sir it is the Evolve car.

I will see if I can get a video of the induction noise for you.

Great purchase, the IDEAL modifications to an E92 I believe - do you have much more planned for it???

Car looks great as-is, would benefit from a couple of small additions (IMO) visually, but there's plenty of time to get those done. The oily bits are far more important on these things, looking forward to a video of some induction howl to see what kind of difference the Eventuri makes. thumbup

Hopefully these satisfy the request for intake and exhaust sound.

So far I love it and I think the fact that it is not used daily helps alleviate some of the complaints people have about the car like a perceived lack of torque, I also suspect that the map doesn't hurt either.

This week stage one of my plans started and it is away two have all four wheels refurbed, following on from that I want to change the bonnet grills to black or CF and then pick up the corner splitters and the rear spoiler.

I actually want an F82 style rear lip so I am looking into if that is an option on these. Other than that the plan is to feed it and enjoy it for the summer, I might consider a cat back at some point if I hear one I really like.

The wheels have been refurbished (powder coated) and look fantastic, the guy who did them really takes pride in his work and very kindly treated the wheels with GTECHNIQ C5 Wheel Armour post refurb.

I celebrated this by taking the car to Bangor in Wales, the car was really fun on the quieter roads and I very much enjoyed the tunnels by the coast on the drive down.

Next step is some new rubber but I am slightly terrified that whomever changes the tires will damage the perfect finish on the alloys, the car is also filthy but it won't stop raining at the moment either.

My new rear tires arrived from Camskill yesterday and the fronts should be here later this week and eagle eyed will notice that the size is a little wider than stock for these. Normally they run 245/35/19 on the front and 265/35/19 on the rears but I have gone 255/35/19 and 275/35/19 on the rears so 10mm wider which leaves them less stretched on the rims.

I also picked up a CTEK MXS 5.0 charger to keep the battery fresh as I go away alot and the car is purely for fun so won't be driven regularly, at the moment it is plugged into the Leon seeing how long a battery from 2005 can last.

So the rod bearings in this car were replaced at 40,000 (car is now on 41,000) and Evolve were kind enough to let me take the removed bearings and gave me a file of the removal process, I thought I would upload the pictures of the removed bearings.

My front tires have also arrived so I will look to get them on next week I think.

Cracking M3. Hmmmm instead of a Catback, wouldn't doing the mod on the backboxes make more sense?

Yeah the back box mod is an option but then you have to choose 2, 2.5 or 4 pipe mod from Paul and I don't know how they will sound with the primary cats removed.

Anyway the sun came out on Saturday so I managed to clean it again, a few pictures but not too many as everyone knows how to clean a car.

Car looks and sounds great!

I'm keen to hear about how you get on with the slightly wider tyres. I've currently got 245/265 Contis on my car but will be replacing them with either MPSS or MP4S when the time comes and was wanting to try 255/275 to fix the slightly stretched look; but from what I've read, there is a chance that the wider fronts will catch the arch or arch liner, which I wouldn't be a fan of.

It is actually already on Pilot Cup Sport 2's in 255/275's and I haven't noticed any rubbing thus far.

Love your M3 by the way, I can't decide between the corner splitters like you have or the V Racing one from SSDD for mine.

I'm not sure if those who have had issues are running spacers or using M359 replicas which come with a slightly different offset.. but I'm on OE wheels and don't plan to run any spacers, so I think I might give the 255's a go when the time comes. Can always put it down to experience and re-sell them if I run into any issues.

Thank you, I'm a big fan of the corner splitters on mine because they fit well and add a little extra aggression to the front end. I've always been a bit wary about aftermarket stuff because it can look a little stuck on/sit slightly proud of the bumper and spoil the lines. The V Racing splitter does look good, sort of like a couple of corner splitters which are joined in the middle... and certainly better than some of the big splitters out there which only really come into their own for me when combined with the bigger GTS rear spoiler.

Car looks fab! Going to check out those vids a bit later.

Those rod bearings that came out look in great condition..?!

Mine is on 61k and have just sent off an oil sample for analysis. Only owned it for 3 weeks!
