Good roads near Nottingham?

Going to have a spare half hour on the way from York to Nottingham tomorrow. Any roads worth detouring to? I know the Peak District has some good roads, but no idea where they are and I can't detour too far.

Depending where in Nottingham you're heading; either take a run over to the airport / Donington Park area to see the planes / check if there's a track day on / visit Bookatracks Caterham showroom etc

or

have a blat along the A50 towards Uttoxeter :{}

Ended up pushed for time and had to head straight down the motorway.

Nottingham's, er, not exactly the most car-friendly city, is it?
