Audi A3 8V fuel range

So yesterday I had 50 miles left in my car, I put £30 diesel in my car and the fuel range said around 350 miles. After probably a 10 mile trip the fuel range had dropped to 260, what does this mean and why is it happening???

The estimated range is based on your usage.

If you've been sitting at a gentle cruise and fill it up it will show loads of miles.

If you've been pootling around town and fill it up it will show fewer miles.
