Having made good progress on the journey up to Herefordshire, by 7.30pm we were departing homewards, myself in a de-roofed S and Mrs CarZee struggling to keep up in the Primula.

There's no denying that the S exhaust note is quite the most beguiling sound. Kept me quite entertained all evening.

Without the benefit of a functioning rev-counter and a speedo which seems to have an electrical gremlin, my main clue as to how fast we were going on the motorway was the relative speed of the other traffic. The truth is that with the top down, I was quite happy on the motorway at speeds which would normally see me flying past in the Primula wondering why the bloke in the TVR is driving like a girl.. now I understand

A stop for dinner provided me with my first opportunity to reassemble the roof. I'm confident that in the event of rain, it'll have stopped long before I ever get the roof on in haste.

Once we got home, Mrs CarZee took the reins for a bit of a spin. We headed down to Alton - always a nice drive down the A339. When we got to Alton, I took over the driving for the blast back. Absolutely superb. After a couple of hours familiarisation with the car, I'm starting to feel quite at home. Whilst not pushing past about 7 or 8/10ths, Mrs CarZee was quite astonished at the raw, visceral feel of the S in high flight.

It frightened her at first (something my driving has never actually done to her before), but the incredible feedback that the S provides the driver informed me that we were well within limits. I've driven the TT up and down that road at greater pace, but with so little emotive feedback from the car, that experience now seems bizzarely somnambulant compared to the S.

Getting home, we embarked upon the gynaecological task of getting it in the garage whilst being able to get out of it. It was close. Very close. What with all the other gubbins in there (freezer, tumble-dryer, wheels/tyres for trackdays, shelf units etc.. ) I reckon I had an inch front and back and just room to squeeze out on the drivers side. Thankfully, we'd had the foresight to tape a piece of carpet to the garage wall so I didn't mash the door on breezeblock getting out.

I'm talking to Mrs CarZee about converting the living room to a garage.

Today I are mostly be listening to the Bluetones - Autophilia (or How I learned to stop worrying and love my car). Marvellous

Good man that man!

Now you realise why we all put up with the niggles. Wonderful motors eh?

Top work!

Good road that! - head off towards Medstead and there are some nice open deresticted lanes where the trees will let the exhaust note echo...

It's Audi, what d'you expect? Whilst very competent and wellbuilt, they are not the best of drivers cars... old man's series of A3's / S3 is testament to that!

Far better solution is to get some insulation for pipes, cut it in half and then glue in to the brick work on all sides - height determined by the widest part of the car... pics can be provided on Monday if required!

By way of a peculiar coincidence, we picked up the Tiv one year to the day from when we picked up the TT.

I remember driving my S home from Solihull to Southampton about 4 months ago. Still have the same on my face this morning as I gave it some on the loud pedal to show an MGF what a real sports car is

I hate reading stories of people and their new Tiv's as it just makes mine seem all that bit further away.

Ho hum, nice one Carzee I hope it brings you mucho joy. Sounds to me like you live in a modernish house with one of those rabbit hutch garages that the developers take the piss with?

Carzee

This post is unusually uncontraversial

Are you sure you didn't mean to say that it was positively the worst investment you've ever made, and that you'd be going back to a Trabant forthwith ?

Can we expect to see Mr and Mrs Carzee on any forthcoming TVR outings ?

Bollox Carzee, I have to agree your posts now

Congratulations, you'll have stacks of fun and the V6 S' are great drivers cars with good feedback.

I still remember picking my S3 up and how good the drive home was compared to my previous Saab 900 Turbo. That feeling hasn't been bettered - well maybe on the way home after selling it last December

Quite sure, thanks..

Without doubt there'll be days ahead when exasperation is the key, but not just now.. and not anytime the loud pedal is down

We'll be at Virgina Waters on the 22nd Sept and the BTaP. Will be playing it by ear other than that, but yes, more meets is an inevitable and integral part of the ownership experience and one I've been looking forward to. Especially having had to take the Primula to Pie on the Beach.

Sounds like you had fun, I remember when I picked mine up, I got into the car drove of down the road, once on the open road floored it! But unfortunately the accelerator got stuck on the carpet, turned it off, it then took me a while to figure out why it had stuck but once back in the car I took it a bit more gently after

Enjoy it!

I’ll be sorry to see mine go, although if I drop the price anymore it won’t be worth selling it!

What time did you finally get home?

We had to go straight home to get the lad into bed when we picked up the Elan last night. I'm sure we would have been out as late as you otherwise.

Have lots of fun!
