R500 Air filter Issue
Discussion
Ist post and it is....... I need help
I just nabbed a 2000 R500 with a ford Zeteck 2.0 power plant the issue is finding an air filter as it has 4" stacks I cannot find a filter to fit.
I have tried every place from Piper Cross to K&N to Ram Air ITG
The tallest seems to be 4" but that means it will sit on top of the stacks and that will not work.
At the present time I do not have a baseplate as the only option seems to be a carbon fiber one from Caterham as I am in the states:
1) It is way too much money
2) I don't need a flashy carbon fiber mounting plate
3) If I buy it i still need a Piper Cross style filter (more $$)
4) If I by it and it does not work it will be a hassle trying to return it
As I am sure there must be other owners out there with this set up any advice would be appreciated
Here's a couple of shots of the stacks

Thanks
Steve

Your car appears to be an interesting mix of parts, some of which may or may not be original Caterham.
In this case I dont think the chassis number or make/model will help you get a suitable air filter. As stated above, you just need to find out what throttle bodies are fitted and then go and buy an off-the-shelf filter for those.

Looks like a set of TWM throttle bodies, now owned by Borla induction. Borla should be able to offer a solution, it certainly offers an airbox kit.
I think these are the throttle bodies LINK
Stuart, were the american kits sold engineless to get round emission issues ?

Thanks for all the input truly appreciated
The Borala looks like a promising option
I also spoke the the guys at ITG who can custom make a filter tall enough to clear the stacks but 3-4 weeks as they have to come from the UK
The only other option is to reduce the size of the stacks
Just for reference I pulled the scouring pad off and took some more photos
Number31 you are correct sir TWM

Why does the filter need to clear the full height of the intake trumpets? You can fit a back plate and a thinner filter as seen here..The Borala looks like a promising option
