NZ Speeding fine on UK license

On holiday in NZ and got an on the spot speeding fine ($300). Any implications of this to my Uk license and what happens if I just don’t pay it (for record I fullly intent to, more asking out of curiosity)?

NZ$300 !!!
I got a $30 speeding fine through the post on return, 6 or 7 years ago. Since I knew I'd be returning at some point I paid up. No effect on mu UK licence, which is still clean after 52 years.

NZD300 here which I paid in case I ever want to go back. They are really hot on speeding over there.

What's the scoop if you miss the deadline on a fine? I picked up a 300 dollar fine myself when I was out there last - it got posted back to the UK but I didn't come back home for about 8 months and as a result I missed the 'must be paid by' date by quite some time. I do intend to return at some point albeit probably on a different passport. I still haven't paid it yet and now so much time has elapsed I'm wondering if it's actually a good idea to do so or if I am just going to be throwing money away and will get fined again for being tardy...

Not sure, but if you use your UK license again which I assume will always be the same number that could flag something. They’ll let you into the country OK, it’s when you try and leave that they would get you.

I got my first speeding ticket ever in NZ in 2002. Doing 115kmh in a 100kmh zone if I remember correctly.
The fine was about $25 and the ticket mentioned points, but I didn't pay and got no points on my UK licence, especially as I was only there for 8 days work. But I always wonder what would happen if I ever go back...….

The question is more along the lines of if I pay the fine late, will the matter be resolved or will they still be narky with me because it was late.

I got a NZD 230 fine for 132kph in a 100kph zone in April. The Policeman told me that had I been going 140kph I would have lost my licence, meaning I would not have been able to drive for the duration of the holiday.

I don't believe it has any effect on your UK licence.

I don't know the implications if you don't pay, but I definitely intend on going back there someday, so paid up. Love the place!

I must say the speed limits are very low. 100kph everywhere. I got my ticket on a big empty straight stretch of road on the West Coast of the South Island. Not a sole about, it really didn't seem excessive or dangerous.

Many locals agree with you to be honest, including a number of cops on the street... but the bureaucrats at police hq in Wellington dictate the low-tolerance policy, and they're been reciting the "speed kills" dogma for so many years they can't bring themselves to look at the data and see if it actually works or not.

I was also on the west coast, near Greymouth. On this occasion it was my fault, I was pootling along just under the speed limit (90kph or so), but missed the signs at the start of whatever the town was. I did however notice that the area was getting increasingly built up and I started to slow down anyway, I'd got down to about 70 when the cop car came the other way, and of course did a U-turn and came after me. If he'd been seven seconds later, I wouldn't have been stopped. However, had I not slowed down I'd probably have been done for 90 in a 50 and had my license impounded, so it could have been worse.
