Great Helicopter Website..
Discussion
Just posted this in another thread, a recent find on google.

It is basically every helicopter that has every appeared in a film or on TV, crazy resource and must have been a work of years.
Anyway, got me thinking of the best and worst heli scenes on TV
Best - Clearly the all time top helicopter scenes must be Apocalypse Now - Flight of the Valkyries. Don't think anything can top that. But we can talk about what is second place...
Worst - Rambo (a good example of a Helicopter being taken down by a rock) there are other rock based helicopter crashes - I am sure

One of the very best helicopter films is a Larry Hagman flick called Deadly Encounter.
Yes, excellent movie Another little known TV movie with a lot of helicopter action is Birds of Prey with David Janssen - full movie on Youtube here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYQoSlHDN48 ( edit - just noticed it's listed on the website
)The forthcoming Mission Impossible 6 - 'Fallout' - is likely to have the most impressive and authentic aerial helicopter action, with Tom Cruise actually flying several stunt scenes, solo.

Wow, quite impressive! The midget winds me up in many ways, but doing your own stunts and clearly spending a large chunk of time learning to fly like that is impressive.https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=next+mission+...
The freeway chase in T2 is hard to beat. Some super skilled low flying, narrowly missing overpasses and cars. Done well by James Cameron who understands how to shoot action with no gimmicks. If I remember from the directors commentary, the pilot was a Vietnam vet.

Gazelles have particularly springy skid struts, I can see how they could aid in resonance building up pretty quickly. Well done for the pilot spotting it so quickly and doing what was necessary. I could see a less experienced pilot panicking and scrambling to close the door first. Not a Gazelle, and not TV or a film sadly, but an MBB Bo-105 showing off with music that comes straight out of an episode of The Professionals. He makes it look like a model or CGI - which didn't happen for quite a few years.

He is well known to be a keen pilot. He also did his own flying in American Made. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=next+mission+...
He has also gone on record as saying if Top Gun 2 ever gets made, he wants to do his own flying and apparently this is a contractual challenge because of insurance etc etc.

He does along with various other planes. However, he isn't on the same level as JOhn Travolta with the infamous house built round a runway! I've just finished reading a book written by the script editor of Top Gear and he said that Tom Cruise was one of the nicest celebs they ever had and they struggled to get rid of him (Talking about cars/planes)

I'm a Blue Thunder man as endorsed strongly by that website.
A chap in work is a great Blue Thunder fan and was truly gutted when it was explained to him that it was just a Gazelle in a body kit! You'd have thought he'd have known better being a helicopter engineer for a day job!Gassing Station | Boats, Planes & Trains | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
