I'm considering my RRS and Nissan GTR and buying an RS6 to replace both. RRS is about to run out of warranty and I just never get the time to use the GTR as the weekend car it's meant to be. Although it's 4WD (very rear bias) it's not a car to hoon in all weathers and lack of creature comforts means I don't consider it for longer work trips etc

Will I get the majority of the all weather functionality of a RRS from the RS6? I know the performance will be near enough the GTR and I only use that for road use so track performance is irrelevant.

C7 RS6 much better in all conditions than RRS other than snow and off road / mud in which it is predictably poor.

With a set of winter tyres will it get me through conditions like we've had in the past couple of months?

My last 'combo car set' was a Disco 4 with a Pork 991s for fun and it got to a point where I didn't find the Pork enough fun to justify having it sit in the garage depreciating. I bought a new RS6 PE last year and I like the car a lot, it rides extremely well (mine has DRC not air) and is a hoot in a straight line with great build quality. If you need all weather then I'd advise you get some winter tyres as in standard form it's not great, but then 4WD will only get you going, it won't help you to stop.

It's a very good all rounder and I don't regret my decision but since I bought mine the new M5 has appeared with 4WD and that looks tempting, though no estate version. I haven't driven the E63 but it gets great reports, I just don't like the looks whereas to my eye the RS looks great (mine is daytona with black pack and no badges) and does attract some nice comments when filling up, which is quite often!!!

yes without a doubt - the only thing that will stop you is if you beach it - if you get one with air suspension rather than DRC then you can raise it for any difficult situations

I've owned both (actually the RR Vogue) and the I concur, the RS6 on winters will get you most places. However several times up here this winter (Peak District) The RR (ATs/winters as well) made it places the RS6 could only dream about. Raised or not the RS6 isn't in the same ground clearance league as the RR. It's occurred to me the RR's clearance may be more than the RRS - is that the case? Even so I'd still go RRS if you want snow domination.
