Yes, very sad news. Apparently he continued with his acting career until quite recently.

His film 'It's Great to be Young' is still a particular favourite of ours.

Rather apt that he should pass away on St George’s day. He mostly played a truly straight bat type English character.

I remember seeing a film where he was stranded on an island facing a German battleship - with just a rifle to defend himself.

That would be Brown on Resolution from 1935.

A sad loss and a great actor. Pity the news coverage I have seen has put him over as part of the stiff upper lip school of acting. There was much more depth to his work than that. Its amazing how many great films he made.

As CC said - raise a glass of carlsberg - the perfect tribute.
