Bye m5 hello z4m coupe
Discussion
So after 3 years of ownership it was time to say good bye to my 2006 m5. After a big bill it was time . So my thoughts on the m5 , apsolutly epic to own . The noise, power was just epic . Rev it out to 9k pull the paddle , full throttle upshift was just something I will never forget and I count my self hugely lucky to have owned one . So running cost was okish £4K if 3 years this included servicing a new clutch and rear discs, pads and callipers .ultilmatly a fairly realiable car dispite the horror storeys.
Some pics

So I wanted something abit more fun and sporty and having owned one of these,

Before the m5 the decision was a no brained. Here is my z4m coupe

This one will be a bit of a slow burner as I have no intentions of selling it so I am going to take me time with it . So far i have given it a layer of Adams patriot wax, put a stubby Ariel and put a storm moterwerks gears knob on . A must for anyone with a manual bmw .

Good luck with the new Z4M, red is always a great colour on most Mcars. Look forward to seeing some more pictures of the new car.
I also sold my 2006 M5 after 4 years of ownership which was pain free as I had the Mondial warranty. It was a good reliable car as well. New owner has had it for a year so far with zero problems. That V10 was epic when revved out it felt like it would never stop pulling, amazing!
I sold it for a fully loaded F80 M3 with CCB and couldn’t be happier, M3 is more fun and way better on fuel, would of kept the M5 as well if I could have but don’t have the room or money!

Nice cars, my old E39 530i Sport cost just under £4k in maintenance in 3 and a half years, so that isn’t bad I guess for an M5! I guess any BMW has the potential for high running costs. Maybe I was a bit too insistent on it having OEM everything, but it was a decent car and deserved it. A Z4M Coupe is a dream car of mine, good luck with it!
Ok some small up dates.
I needed some new tyres and decided as the dealer had put brand new Bridgestones on the rear i would just match them up front . The s001 is a decent tyre and I got a good price on them so far they have performed well.
I then done interim service with some new spark plugs and 5.5l of Fuchs Titan s pro oil.
With my birthday coming up I was treated to some bits from storm motorworks

I love the quality of these items and the gear knob has made for a nicer shift.

They wheels were annoying me as the dealer had only had the faces repainted prior to sale I also was not a fan of silver and was torn between shadow chrome or gloss black. In the end I went for gloss black

I was really pleased with the result, black seems to work well with the red paint. I ceramic coated the wheels and brought on of these to keep the barrels nice and clean

The incrdibrush is a great bit of kit and I hope will keep my alloys in good nick.
To match my alloys I brought a gloss black grill, this made the look a bit meaner.

My attention the went to the paint so I machine polished the car with Britemax black max and then put a layer of my new favourite wax on
The result were great

So really happy with the car atm a hunter wheel alignment has made the car feel more settled and the plan is just to enjoy it for the summer. I’ll have a inspection 2 service done around Xmas time . The plan is to have some mods done around March next year so far I torn between and eisseman exhaust and eventuri intake and evolve remap or having a csl airmox fitted and an alpha n tune done by evolve . I’ll spend the winter researching before I make my mind up.
That’s it for now

So just a small update I managed to source some hub centric h&r wheel spacers. I went for 12mm at the rear and 10mm up front .
Really happy with the result.
With winter approaching I gave the car polish with my new vertool forced da and applied some Adams polishes ceramic wax
That’s probably it got this year. I have some exhaust finishers and ram air scoop I got from the guys on z4 forum that I’m still undecided if I will put them on the car.
The car has an mot next month so I will finally get the clutch delay valve removed and the hand brake tightened up.
I will take it to eta motorsports for a full inspection 2 service in feb and depending on what other work may need doing will decide if I keep the car stock or mod . I’d like a bit more noise and power but 3k for a csl airbox with a compromised alpha n tune or a eventuri intake and map coming in at around £1100 or an eisseman exhaust at aroun £1500 I’m just not sure it’s all worth it sometimes there is a lot to be said for a well looked after stock example. I’ll make my mind up next year.
