One owner 986 Boxster 2.7 restoration

Well, it was a one owner until I bought it 
Picked this up from work late February as a trade in for £3150.
2001 986 Boxster2.7. One previous owner, 113000 miles, full Porsche Service history with £23k spent in the last 10 years. Car had new shocks and springs in August with a full geometry check so it drives like it’s done 10000 miles!
The plan is to keep up the good work and make this a (albeit high mileage) mint original example.
What’s wrong with it? Not much really. The plastic rear screen has split and the car has the usual Porsche stone chips. But I got the car so cheap I’m happy to throw some money at it.
So far the expenditure is;
- Replacement OSR CV boot £200
- Tequipment Short shifter £290
- Replacement radio knobs and centre console trim £40
What it’s booked in for;
- New roof from BAS International £695 (currently in a hotel in Wales and will update with photos tomorrow)
- Respray of bumpers, front wings and bonnet £1600 (booked in on 20th March)
- Replacement front engine mount £150

The window on ours never got as far as splitting, but every time I had to get out and do the 'Boxster chop' mid roof drop I aways wondered whether the later glass screen roof was a viable retrofit for these.
Ours was sold at just shy of 60k miles, with inevitable money pit territory looming large. If you want to really keep it top notch I can highly recommend having a proper specialist give it a look over. Auto farm gave ours back with pages of things that needed fixing that even with enthusiast owners were completely a surprise.

A pal has a 53 plate S that sits outside in all weathers ( in Scotland !!) although he has a lovely double garage ( he is not a petrolhead !)
I arrived one time to see it covered with about 2 feet of snow!
IIRC he has had a few issues with the alarm running the battery down.
As has been said above, it will be worth getting a well respected Porsche specialist to give it a thorough inspection, then at least you know where you are with it.
The other thing I have learned from my pal is that Boxsters do not like sitting unused.... his was much more reliable when he started using it regularly, and I have also heard that they are better if driven hard....!!
