Just realized the mito is nearing 10 years old, which puts it up there with the 147 (and 916 GTV) as longest living recent alfa's

Checking the brand website, im greeted with lots of special offers on the mito, and there is only 4 engine/trans options left, the twinair, the 1.3 derv and the 1.4 in 140 or 170 guise, both with TCT. I seem to remember there being more options.

Which makes me wonder when the mito will be replaced, the rumours i can find right now suggest that the new production in Casino next year will most likely be either the succesor to the Giulietta (also 8 years old now), or perhaps a small SUV, and then there are the 6C rumours.

I rather fondly remember the two mitos i had on lease, and the only reason i probably wont have one in the future is that its a bit small as a do-it-all car with two kids, i'd be sad if Alfa choose to let it go without a replacement

Did some more digging and found a leaked timeline, apparently next september is it for the Mito, with no replacement.

The same line also listed the Giulietta as getting axed in 2022, again, with no direct replacement, although they seem to be working on a C-segment SUV (which royally pisses me off, SUVs are pointless compromised crap)

Quite staggering how badly alfa is being managed, half their offerings are always outdated, and they seem desperate to drive away the customers that just want a sportier alternative to a Golf, instead going for SUVs...

Obviously a severe lack of money & investment in the brand and a woeful dealer network - extraordinarily bad compared to German brands (meaning size and quantity).

I'd love to run Alfa (with money)

There should be the following;

New Giulietta based on shortened Giulia chassis (so RWD) even a 2.9 V6 QV hatchback!

Giulia Coupe & Cab (4-seaters) Estate

Spider (RWD 2-seat - like the 124 spider)

6c coupe - (RWD, 2 seater)

Stevio ..I suppose for the SUV crowd

Maybe bring another 8c ?

Stepping on Maserati toes perhaps but they're not so good shape either..

MiTo & 4C are dead frown

The Giulietta will solder on but no significant upgrades are planned.

It’s apparently being replaced by a compact SUV, not as stated above.

Recent AR UK & Ireland sales figures have been truly pitiful.

177 in February with YTD sales totalling 454. Alfa have 62 dealers so 3 cars (2.85 R/U) per dealer in February & 7 cars (7.32 R/D) per dealer YTD.

Sustainable?

March may bring a positive new plate blip.

Now that would be a hoot! a true heir to the 147 GTA, and an instant BMW 1 series killer, make a small coupe on the same platform (see 147/GT) and the 2-series is done for as well.

Id add a mito succesor, this time with a 1750TB powered GTA version (as the mito was supposed to get)

Either way, all of this is not an immediate problem for me since i dont have the money for even a 10 years young alfa right now, but it makes me wonder what ill drive when the 147s finally start getting rare (in about 6-8 years), somehow im not entirely in love with the idea of a 1.4T powered giulietta

I have been given one as courtesy car while my Giulia QF is in for a service. I'm a big Alfa fan, but it really is showing its age. The interior is from the 1990s and the twin air engine only makes the car move (slightly) when it is D mode.

The need to kill it off. They won't make another as there's no money in small cars.

It's an embarrassment.

As people have said the Mito and Giulietta are going to be replaced by a small SUV, most likely based on the Fiat 500X

He needs to be fired imho

Dropping fiat out of the supermini segment, relying solely on the fashion accesory/shopping trolley market, claiming alfa is properly invested in when again, they only have two up to date models to sell, and apparently everything below the giulia is slated to get axed and replaced by SUVs...

Im sure sergio doesnt care about me, as i dont have the money for one of his new SUVs anyway, but there will be a point in the future where i simply wont be able to buy an alfa (or fiat!) that comes close to meeting my needs, and that saddens me.

Marchionne is starting to remind me of Gerald Ratner. He talks as if he has nothing to do with Fiat's future and is quite happy to sit back see it fail.

The Mito in it's top spec - 170 manual was a good car, but always lacked investment to keep it competitive. The biggest mistake was to put the tiny twin-air in it and drop the manual options for the 135/40 and 170.

To say that there is no market for 2 door cars is a bit lame when there are loads of Fiesta's, Corsa's, Up's, C1's etc etc. Not forgetting that The Fiat Group's own best seller is the now very old 2 door Fiat 500.
