After starting a thread about my Clio V6 Trophy, here's a thread about my other RenaultSport model.

I realised about 3 months back that although I've owned a lot of different cars, I'm actually mainly a lover of RenaultSport and what they can do to a car, make it into something real world special.

I bought the Megane just over 1 year ago, a 30k mile RS250 with a Scorpion exhaust, lowering springs and remap. Before I even took delivery, the Scorpion was gone and the KTec full system with sports cat was fitted.

Fast forward a bit and the car started to morph into a track car with the raw edges smoothed a little. Power was upped to 350hp with the same torque thanks to RS Tuning, Wagner, KTec and ITG. Handling was tweaked by RS Competition Pro dampers and adjustable droplinks and weight was shed by removing non essential items (rearward sound deadening and trim) and replacing things such as bonnet, glass, tailgate, seats and battery.

The car currently sits at 1241kg and with a pair of FRP doors and lexan front windows will drop into the 1100s.

Early days with the Gramlights

First attempt at lightening the boot floor

First aftermarket seats

Bonnet vents while experimenting with cooling

Switch to the OZ

RS Competition Pro dampers

On the rollers at RS Tuning

More stripping of weight

The ITG

CAE and the interior getting there

Pole Positions

Windows out

Had some FRP boot lids made up

Heat shielding, tidying and loosing weight up front

Arches after the Ring

Carbon bonnet on

As it looks today

Thanks for starting this thread mate. What a machine.

Few questions;
Why replace the scorpion with a KTR exhaust?
What Turbo are you running?
What is the goal weight?

That looks terrific.

Not normally my sort of car but that's been modified very well.

How much does it take to get 350bhp out of these?

No worries, thanks for asking!

The Scorpion was supposed to have a weakness with one of the mounts but the main reason was it wasn't a full system or as good as the KTR (supposedly). It's running the KTR Stage 2 hybrid turbo and weight wise, I'd be happy to be around 1175kg with all the trim in..if I stripped it out fully and really went to town I could probably shave another 100 off that?

Thank you! I could have had most cars (within around 60k budget) but went for this knowing that tuning budget could be 'best of the best'...sort of.

KTR did all the work, KTR full exhaust and sports cat, KTR Stage 2 turbo, 60lb injectors, ITG filter and Wagner intercooler. Total cost was around £4300? KTR royally fked up the mapping though, it was running 370hp and 440lb/ft at the start. I asked them to tone it down, that led to 340hp and 370lb/ft but I wasn't happy still. I took it to RS Tuning in Leeds in the end and just said I wanted 350/350. I think the final figures were more 362/358 or something but it's easier to say 350/350 haha.

Nice and lots of work gone in there. I do love the Renault sport brand as no mater if its the Twingo, Clio or the Mégane everyone has a passion that is unlike other brands.
I have a little baby RS 133 (with an extra 40bhp) rally car that I am building. Currently got that down to 900kg ish with more to come off that!

They look like a riot smile I've had 4 RS cars now, well the Twizy was tweaked by RenaultSport so I'm counting that.

They're dropping in price for sure. For me at least, Renault make the best real world driver hatchbacks. Not about the power, it's the entertainment.

The 250's represent the best value for me, especially at the prices that they can be had for now. There's really nothing in it between them at the 265's/275's.

Cracking cars they are. Proof that FWD can be fun and entertaining in it's own way.

Anyone who dismisses the FWD layout is missing a trick, you only have to look at track days to see that. My Clio is still the fastest car I've had round Brands Indy, will be interesting to see what the Meg can do soon. I'll buy new pads a discs after that I think, shakedown before Germany.

As a Clio 197 owner this make me very envious. This is the exact way i'd like my clio to be, its just too clean to do anything too!

I really fancy a Megane RS next.

Just stick a Megane engine in the Clio :P

Which tbh unless you need a bit more space makes a better car, as imo the Clio handles batter.

My old 172 Cup smile I loved that car, managed around 54 seconds at Brands Indy if I recall. Would be good to compare for sure!

Love this!!!! So glad you started this thread, friend of mine use to have a 265 which he mapped and fitted KTec exhaust to and it was rapid, very impressive bit of kit for sure.

With the weight reduction and performance increase this must be a flyer!!!
