CalMac ferry to Barra
Discussion
I'm thinking of taking my K-series wet sump S3 to Barra later this summer, but I'm a bit concerned about sump clearance when getting on and off the ferry. Has anybody used a Cal Mac ferry to any of the southern Hebrides? The ferry to Stornoway is quite a bit bigger than the one to Barra I think.
Cheers,
Steve

Ferry's the easy bit - the scottish roads though are abysmal, easily the worst in the developed world, the single track roads with passing places were obsolete when the horse & cart appeared imo
I wouldn't think of taking my 7 anywhere near Scotland, in fact the wife wouldn't take her newish beetle convertible
Don't get me wrong I love scotland spend 3-4 wks a year there, views are fantastic - I suggest you take a battered old [4wheel drive ] tintop, and be prepared to do battle with the locals 4x4s. Roads are much worst april-september when they are full of stupid tourists who've never seen single track roads.
YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

I've just come back from a week near Fort William and I lived in Elgin for a few years. The roads last week were a bit hit and miss, but no worse than they are around Lincoln. I love driving around the Highlands and will do the NC500 at some stage.
CalMac have responded to an email I sent them asking me to contact them again when I book and they'll sort me out
