Extending VW Warranty...options?
Discussion
Afternoon All,
My VW approved used car warranty runs out in January 2019 - does anyone have any experience of extending with a VW warranty product?
Someone said about the car needing to go in for inspection and that alone costs £250 before they will even consider putting a warranty on it.
Thanks as always

I extended the aproved used car warranty on my R32 a couple of times. They will send you a letter with a price and the options (level of cover excess and monthley or yearly payment) and you pay that’s all there is to it. No inspections or anything. I would have to dig out the agreement but I think you have to get the car serviced at VW though, the rules are different compared to manufacturer warranties.
The extended VW warranty administered by Mondial is very good in my experience but as said car needs to be serviced within the franchise network.
They send you a letter around 30 days prior to the manufacturer warranty expiring and give you a login and you can have a play around with costs based on annual / monthly payment, different excesses and whether breakdown is included or not.
There is no onspection required but to get the best price you need to take out the warranty before the existing warranty expires.

Is their a cut off of age of car they’ll let you renew the warranty on?
If my memory serves me right the warranty options reduce when the car reaches 10yrs or over 100K miles.Best thing to do is have a read

Thanks for this, sounds good, Its on approved used car warranty for a while yet so will budget a few quid for when it ends so I can renew with a VW warranty product!
Can I ask which model you have and how old it'll be in Jan 19?My missus has Tiguan and I'm somewhat anxious about running that out of warranty (will be 3yrs old in Sept 18). We got it literally a couple of weeks before the emissions announcement and I wish now I'd either leased or left it on its PCP so I could just dump it. It's the latest EU6 diesel, but the emissions stuff (including AdBlue) is incredibly complex.
Snag is the local dealers have a poor reputation. We use an indie for a Golf in the family and they're happy to look after the Tiguan. I might buy a 3rd party warranty at least as a safety net.

Polo GTI DSG Jan 2016- will need to add a years warranty in Jan 2019 - bang on 3 years. My missus has Tiguan and I'm somewhat anxious about running that out of warranty (will be 3yrs old in Sept 18). Just done a quote on my previous Golf r dsg, October 2014 and came back as £541 for all component cover with £150 excess - gives an idea of costings.

Thanks. It won't quote on our car yet but I found a 15 reg DSG 4Motion Tiguan (YN15NNF) and it's coming back at £334 with £0 excess. It only offers me £0, £100 or £250 excess. It doesn't seem to make much difference what the start or annual mileage is, and named component cover is barely cheaper.
As well as the emissions stuff the DSG bugs me too. Not had one before and it made a very loud zizzing noise the other day from rest - loud enough to make my wife look up from her 'phone and ask "what the heck was that?" and I'm sure it's doing it intermittently, but much quieter.
If it is Mondial, then I'm sure on the BMW one that car can be serviced anywhere. Indeed the T's & C's of the VW one just say serviced in accordance etc. Having said that I guess if you're going to go with a warranty in VWs name it just makes things complicated to get it serviced elsewhere. I just the dealers didn't do such a great impression of being complete scam artists.
